Viking horror, anyone? Apsulov: End of Gods is getting set to deliver just that to Xbox, PlayStation and Switch this summer, with both digital and physical versions in the works.

Coming from the indie publishing team of Digerati, Apsulov: End of Gods is an award-winning Viking horror which will be launching digitally in the summer of 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch, with PS4 and PS5 players able to get in on either a digital or physical version.

Having first launched on PC in 2019 (and having picked up multiple awards and some seriously tasty reviews on Steam since) by those at the Swedish development team of Angry Demon Studio, Apsulov: End of Gods brings together technology and Norse myth in an atmospheric first-person horror adventure. It’ll now be coming to console though, with Perp Games handling the physical PlayStation side. It’ll be this which includes not just the game, but a downloadable soundtrack and artbook.

“We worked incredibly hard to create a rich, atmospheric world for Apsulov, and the response we’ve had from PC players is a great source of pride for us,” says Angry Demon Studio CEO, John Kalderon. “It’s always been our aim to bring the game to consoles, so we’re thrilled that it’s finally happening and console owners will soon get a chance to discover the secrets of Yggdrasil for themselves.”

“Anyone who has played Apsulov on PC will know its atmospheric blend of horror and sci-fi wrapped in the lore of Norse mythology makes for a potent combination,” says Digerati director, Nick Alfieri. “It’s a game that absolutely deserves to exist in the physical realm as well as the digital, so we’re happy to be working with Perp Games to make that happen.”

“This is no ‘typical’ haunted house game. Angry Demon Studio has created a real horror game steeped in Norse mythology,” said Rob Edwards, Managing Director at Perp Games. “It is a pleasure to work with Angry Demon Studio and Digerati to publish the physical versions of this incredibly atmospheric horror game.”

If you aren’t down with the PC scene and have yet to hear of Apsulov: End of Gods, then expect a future Viking horror and sci-fi adventure that is pretty much unlike any other. You see, the humans have dug deep below the earth to find the mercy of the gods, yet what they found was never meant to reach the surface. Not on Midgard, nor any of Yggdrasil’s realms. You wake in a facility built to research the worlds of Yggdrasil, before being left to survive lurking dangers as you journey through a world of technology and mythological artifacts; one where chaos rules over the human realm. It is in this chaos that you find your purpose and destiny.

Key features of Apsulov: End of Gods include:

  • Explore a nightmarish sanctuary of futuristic technology and Norse mythology
  • Experience first-person horror in uniquely atmospheric environments
  • Master otherworldly artifacts and the secrets of Yggdrasil
  • Play in 4K HDR on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One X, PS5 and PS4 Pro

We’ll keep you updated as to how development and release windows for Apsulov: End of Gods change in the weeks ahead. For now give the trailer below a little whizz through and then let us know if you’ll be heading in to Apsulov this summer. The comments are below.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
