Hyper Jam is a neon-soaked 80’s inspired arena brawler that features both local and online multiplayer – and it’s available today on Xbox One, PS4 and Steam!
Pitting up to four players against each other in a small arena to battle for supremacy, Hype Jam sees weapon pickups dotted around the map that players can use to give them the advantage. At the end of each round, scores are awarded based on performance but there is also a perk draft, to keep everything as even as possible.
If you find yourself in last place at the end of a round, you have first pick of the perks for the next round. These perks remain for the rest of the game and can even be stacked if you pick two of the same. They can range from health or movement boosts, to additional damage and knockback resistance.
Along with these perks, the basic rules can be changed to make sure no two games are the same. You can choose to have a longer game, remove some perks completely or even make all weapon pickups a katana. There will be no guns at this knife fight let me tell you.
But even if you sail away to the target score with relative ease, you will need to survive one more round as a marked man to ensure victory. How will you now cope, knowing that everyone has you in their sights?
Aside from the up-to date graphics, Hyper Jam looks like it could have been ripped straight from the ’80s: character art and costumes, neon lights on most surfaces, a Miami rooftop and even a decade appropriate soundtrack complements everything.
