For many the mere mention of Arkham gets the excitement levels rising. But forget about the next chapter in the life of Batman, for Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace comes about via the world of H.P. Lovecraft, taking inspiration from an award-winning board game franchise.

Should you be after an original tale, then Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace looks set to deliver it. Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Nintendo Switch, this throws you back in time, all the way back to 1926 when an astronomy professor is found dead in her mansion.

It’ll be up to you to take charge of 12 different investigators attempting to get to the bottom of the mystery, working your way through a whole ton of clues, investigative options and more. You’ll need to perform interrogations, utilise a defined set of skills and ensure that your detectives are fully equipped for the job at hand.

Whilst we would love to see the world’s greatest detective play a part here, in Mother’s Embrace you’ll have to make do with a smattering of folk looking to embrace the science. They’ll have to get properly hands on at points though and with both melee and ranged weaponry to hand, magical spells and more, the turn-based combat should just about see you right as you go up against some of the very worst Lovecraftian horrors.

If you’re a fan of the board game scene and wish to see how Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace has made it to the video gaming world, then just pop by the Xbox Store and pick up the game on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S. A £16.74 price tag certainly makes it a viable option. You’ll find the game rolling around on Nintendo Switch and PC too should you prefer those formats.

Game Description:

Inspired by the award-winning board game franchise, Arkham Horror: Mother’s Embrace is an investigation game served with turn-based combat, set in the  haunted worlds of H.P. Lovecraft’s Cthulhu mythos. Plunge into an original story written by Fantasy Flight Interactive’s official writers and explore the American Roaring Twenties. The year is 1926: a professor of astronomy is found dead in her mansion and everything indicates that she has been the victim of a heinous murder. Find clues, perform interrogations and progress through nine chapters as the story unfolds. Your investigation will take you to visit  shadowed institutions and mysterious locales, ranging from Miskatonic University, the Arkham Asylum, and the bayous of Louisiana.  As the investigators get closer to their goal, your squad will have to face curious science, living nightmares, and a sinister cult, whose mad scheme is to bring about the end of everything. Use a large variety of melee and ranged weapons, as well as powerful items and devastating magic spells to defeat your opponents in turn-based combat; while you attempt to retain your sanity. As you face off against Lovecraftian horrors, your investigators will descend deeper into the depths of madness, affecting their level of sanity and causing traumas that will impact the course of your investigation. Care about your sanity and make the right choices … the Ancient Ones are preparing their return.
