Trials of Olympus – now on Xbox

Trials of Olympus challenges players to prove their worth on Xbox Series X|S, launching for £14.99 as the latest release from EpiXR Games.

This time, instead of peaceful bird-flying or meditative exploration, the studio turns to Greek legend – tasking you with surviving the trials of the gods themselves.

There are no swords to swing here. No spells to cast. Just movement, timing and the watchful eyes of Olympus judging every step. What could go wrong!?

The Gods Demand A Champion

In Trials of Olympus, the gods seek a mortal worthy of standing against a rising darkness. To earn that honour, you must endure the domains of Ares, Artemis, Hades, Poseidon and Zeus, each presenting three expansive trials designed to test your resolve.

Every realm reflects the nature of its deity. Expect fiery gauntlets in the lands of Ares, shadowy peril in Hades’ underworld and tempestuous hazards beneath Zeus’ storm-swept skies.

And there’s no doubt that your goal is clear – gather divine essences scattered throughout each domain and ascend Olympus with the gods’ favour.

Movement Is Your Only Weapon

Combat is deliberately absent and survival hinges on agility and awareness.

Thankfully you’ll be able to call on some core abilities. These include:

  • Directional dashing – forward, upward and downward
  • Double jumps and controlled floating
  • Careful dodging of enemies and environmental traps
  • Collecting ambrosia to restore mana and maintain mobility

A Different Direction For EpiXR

While EpiXR’s previous titles have often leaned into serene environments and slower pacing, think the Aery series, Trials of Olympus introduces a more active, reflex-driven experience. It retains a sense of visual flair and thematic cohesion, but layers in deliberate platforming systems that demand precision.

The result is a game that should well feel both consistent with the studio’s style and bold in its shift toward action-oriented gameplay.

Trials of Olympus is available now on Xbox Series X|S for £14.99. The Xbox Store will deliver the clean, focused platforming experience wrapped in mythological spectacle that you are looking for.

The gods are watching.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
