Astroneer takes a giant leap from Game Preview to full Xbox One release

astroneer full xbox one launch

What were you doing back in 2016? Forgotten? Well, the guys at System Era Softworks haven’t, because that was when they were found dropping the stunning looking Astroneer onto Xbox One via Xbox Game Preview. 2016 was a long time ago though, and now it’s time for Astroneer to take its next giant leap – to full product launch.

Available to purchase and download from today will be the full release of Astroneer on Xbox One, and that means it’s time for us Xbox gamers to start exploring and reshaping some of the most distant worlds.

Priced at ÂŁ23.74, the full launch of Astroneer sees many changes from the early Game Preview version that we previously went hands on with. That was obviously some years ago and many, many, new features and improvements would have hit home since then. Even still, we were pretty impressed back then as well.

Now you’ll find access to 6 brand new planets, multiple new challenges and a whole ton of extra mysteries. The character customisation options have increased too with the chance for every budding astronaut to show off their own unique style and personality.

Dedicated servers allow for cross play between Xbox One and PC, and so multiplayer opportunities with friends is more than viable. What you and your mates get up to though is completely up to you – how will you go reshaping the terrains you find?

If that all sounds like an adventure you’d like to head off on then Astroneer can be picked up right now from the Xbox Store. Chances are you’ll love what you find, however if you would prefer to hold on out for our full review of Astroneer, then it’ll be coming your way pretty soon.

For now though let us know if you’ll be giving it a shot by posting in the comments or by firing us multiple messages on the usual social channels. We’d love to hear from you!

Game Description:

Explore and reshape distant worlds! Astroneer is set during a 25th century gold rush where players must explore the frontiers of outer space, risking their lives and resources in harsh environments for the chance of striking it rich. On this adventure, a player’s most useful tool is their ability to shape their world, altering the terrain and extracting valuable resources from planets, and moons. Resources can be traded or crafted into new tools, vehicles, and modules to create everything from massive industrial bases to mobile rover bases. -Reshape and shape terrain as though it were made of Play-Doh. -Explore procedurally generated planets that can be entirely deformed and traversed. -Build a spaceship and travel to new planets and moons. -Snap together components and objects to create custom vehicles and modules. -4 player online drop-in/drop-out co-op.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
