We’ve seen the iconic Centipede release in Recharged form in recent weeks, and we’re very much looking forward to getting hands-on to enhanced versions of Breakout and Asteroids in the coming months. Today though it’s all about the Black Widow as Atari continue to Recharge their classics for the next generation.

Available to purchase and download right now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S (yep, fully optimised), PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch and PC is Black Widow Recharged.

Atari’s original twin-stick shooter, Black Widow first released way back when (1982!) to kickstart a whole new genre of game. Now though, with the Recharged tag firmly attached, it’s looking to find a home for itself in the modern gaming era. If the release of Centipede Recharged told us anything, it should well provide a decent nostalgic hit too.

Priced at £7.99, Black Widow Recharged comes totally reimagined, reworked for a new generation and complete with the most vibrant of visuals. Much like Centipede, this plays out across an Arcade highscore chasing mode, along with a plethora of Challenges, ensuring that it keeps fresh for a decent amount of time.

Throw in local cooperative play however you are twin-sticking with this arachnid shooter and you’ve got all the ingredients that you could ever want.

We’re currently on the review train and will let you know how Black Widow Recharged plays out with full next-gen optimisation on Xbox Series X|S in the days ahead. For now though, get over to the Xbox Store and grab this one.

You’ll also find Black Widow Recharged frequenting the stores of PlayStation, Switch and PC.

Game Description:

The original cult classic arachnid-starring, twin-stick shooter returns! Just in time for Halloween, Black Widow: Recharged has been reimagined for modern gameplay, with vibrant visuals, powerful new abilities, and another original soundtrack from award-winning video game composer Megan McDuffee. Aim for a high score in the old school arcade mode and earn bragging rights with your name at the top of the leaderboard. Or test your skills and rank on the boards in one of 30 intensely creative challenges, which twist the gameplay in new and exciting ways. Collect cash from downed enemies to charge a powerful web blast, or pick up one of a dozen new power-ups including explosive blasts, spread-shots, and fear, trapping all enemies in your web. Every mode and level is playable in local co-op mode with a friend.
