Microsoft have pulled back the curtain on the games coming and going in the remainder of August 2022, as well as dropping a surprise game on us: Coffee Talk (Cloud, Console and PC)!
First, the announcements. It’s been revealed that, on August 23rd, we are getting Midnight Fight Express (Cloud, Console, and PC). On August 25th we get our hands on Exapunks (PC) and Opus: Echo of Starsong – Full Bloom Edition (Console and PC). Finally, on August 30th, just squeezing into the month, is Commandos 3 – HD Remaster (Cloud, Console, and PC), Immortality (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S), Ubisoft’s Immortals Fenyx Rising (Cloud, Console, and PC) and Tinykin (Console and PC). Not a bad haul.
Additionally, sixteen games have been given touch-screen functionality via Cloud gaming. They are Chorus, Coffee Talk, Dragon Age 2, Dragon Age Origins, Floppy Knights, Matchpoint, MLB The Show 22, My Friend Peppa Pig, PAW Patrol The Movie: Adventure City Calls, Skate, STAR WARS: Squadrons, TMNT Shredder’s Revenge, Turbo Golf Racing, Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion and Two Point Campus.
And then there are the leavers. August 31st signals the following leaving the service: Elite Dangerous (Cloud and Console), Hades (Cloud, Console, and PC), Myst (Cloud, Console, and PC), NBA 2K22 (Cloud and Console), Signs of the Sojourner (Cloud, Console, and PC), Spiritfarer (Cloud, Console, and PC), Twelve Minutes (Cloud, Console, and PC), Two Point Hospital (Cloud, Console, and PC), What Remains of Edith Finch (Cloud, Console, and PC) and World War Z (Cloud, Console, and PC).
Which leaves us with the easy task of selling Coffee Talk to you. This is a heartfelt little visual novel set in and around a coffee shop, and it’s one of the finest of its type on the Xbox. There’s a spiffing soundtrack too.
We handed it a 4.5/5, saying “it is an early contender for Indie Game of the Year – it is such a joyous game. It does a fantastic job putting you in the shoes of a barista/agony aunt and there must be some sort of witchcraft that goes on because the responses you see on screen are exactly the responses I would have given in that situation”.
