Darren Edwards

I have been playing games since a very early age, thanks to my Dad's encouragement. I've been an Xbox gamer since the very beginning, the Master Chief is to thank for that. I'm also a big Nintendo geek, and my other half is a PlayStation nut. I'll play pretty much anything in any genre (although FIFA and COD maybe pushing it).

The Mobius Machine Review

Despite nothing in particular wowing in The Mobius Machine, that won't stop you from playing until the very end.

10 Seconds to Win! Review

10 Seconds to Win! is as formulaic as they come, but remains an enjoyable little platformer, despite the fact it’s all over in a flash.

Halo: Epitaph – Book Review

Despite not matching the breakneck pace of the games, Halo: Epitaph is a fitting tribute to one of the best characters from the Reclaimer Saga.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer Impressions – Know Your Roots

In the immortal words of John 117, I think we’re just getting started with Halo Infinite.

Tandem: A Tale of Shadows Review

Tandem: A Tale of Shadows offers up something refreshingly different and is bursting with charm, however the premature ending will leave you wanting more.

Cyanide & Happiness – Freakpocalypse (Episode 1) Review

Cyanide & Happiness - Freakpocalypse (Episode 1) marks a steady start for the trilogy that leaves room for improvement. You’ll almost immediately know if this weird but sometimes wonderful adventure is one which suits your tastes or not.

Looking Back to 2001 with Crazy Taxi!

Some have tried, and failed to mimic the brilliantly balanced gameplay of Crazy Taxi - most notably Taxi Chaos which released earlier in 2021. However, the original didn’t need to be expanded or evolved in subsequent releases because there is something special about the original that is lost even when slightly changed.

Immortus Temporus Review

Despite some grand promises of strategic and challenging gameplay, Immortus Temporus instead offers an inconsistent experience which isn’t all that puzzling after all.

Looking Back to 2001 with Halo: Combat Evolved – “I Think We’re Just Getting Started”

It can’t be understated how important Halo is to Microsoft and Xbox, in particular Halo: Combat Evolved which had the most difficult job of launching the franchise on a brand new console. It was nothing short of a masterpiece, and remains one of my favourite games of all time. What would be a perfect celebration for Xbox, is if Halo: Infinite can bring that magic back over 20 years later.

Aeon Must Die Review

Dazzling visuals, multiple storylines and one pretty cool protagonist are sadly not enough to compensate for the entertaining, but ultimately underwhelming, gameplay in Aeon Must Die.

Tony and Clyde Review

Tony and Clyde is a frustrating, repetitive and frankly offensive game. I can't in all good faith recommend it.

Black Widow: Recharged Review

If you like chasing high-score chasing Black Widow: Recharged will help you scratch that itch. It all comes together to ensure that Black Widow: Recharged is a faithful update to the cult classic arcade shooter. However, the simple, repetitive gameplay means only fans of the genre will get the most from it.

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality Review – The Doctors Will See You Now

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality is a short, simple adventure game. However, it draws skillfully upon the Doctor Who franchise, making it an experience fans won’t want to miss.

Looking Back Over 25 Years of Tomb Raider – Surviving and Thriving

She is one of gaming’s true global icons. That’s right, Lara Croft has been jumping, shooting and shimmying her way around the world for an impressive 25 years now, having first arrived on the scene in 1996.

Into The Pit Review – To Hell and Back

Into the Pit is fast paced, repetitive and ever so slightly tactical. It may seem simple at first, but it’s a real blast with hidden depths (quite literally) that keep it from becoming too much of a grind.

Echo Generation Review – Those ’90s Kids

Echo Generation is a simple but very enjoyable adventure which captures the magic of being young. It skillfully creates a sense of excitement and wonder, yet has enough going on to prevent it from becoming a repetitive slog; a trap similar games often fall into.

Looking Back to 2006 With Splinter Cell: Double Agent – Blurred Lines

Splinter Cell: Double Agent certainly wasn’t afraid to tread new ground in 2006, introducing events that would change the series forever.

Looking Back to 2016 with Gears of War 4 – It’s a Family Affair

I vividly remember my excitement when I heard the news that Gears of War was coming back. After being pleasantly surprised with Halo 4 a few years before, I was very much hoping for a similarly enjoyable resurrection of one of Xbox’s flagship franchises.
