There are certain Xbox games that, criminally, received less attention than they deserved. Psychonauts is one such game. Developed by Double Fine Studios, which now sits under the Xbox Game Studios umbrella, the game was praised by critics but commercially wasn’t a success.

Mekorama falls short of ticking the addictive puzzler box, but remains fun for the most part. And for only £4.49, I can't criticise it too harshly for that.

Snakeybus on Xbox One isn't exactly steeped in sophistication, but by god does it have a great USP. That alone makes it worth checking out. You can be certain of one thing here, and that is grinning like an idiot from start to finish.

Doom 3 is sometimes considered the odd one out; the black sheep of the family. After the fairly bloody, sometimes jumpy but altogether not too heavy outings in the first two games, the third was a different beast altogether. Put simply, it was s**t scary.

Doom 64 on Xbox One is exactly what you have come to expect from the franchise. There's nothing new or surprising here, but it's another solid set of demon slaying levels nonetheless. In all honesty, as Doom II was to Doom, it feels as if it could simply be an expansion to the original game. However, as the old saying goes, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”.

When writing this piece, the urge to play through Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory once again has been impossible to ignore. It didn’t simply just possess all the components needed for a great game, but combined them in such a way that made it totally irresistible to play.

Wacky, cheeky and above all else a laugh from start to finish is my best attempt to sum up this game. Timesplitters: Future Perfect was a worthy sequel to its predecessors. What the world needs right now is more of this, so while we hope and pray for the fourth game this is a title that deserves another look.

Doom Eternal on Xbox One manages to be bigger, bloodier and somehow better than its predecessor. iD have built on their successful comeback from 2016, retaining what makes Doom great, whilst also subtly adding to it. Simply put, It’s the first must buy Xbox One game of 2020.

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe marked the franchise’s first release away from the Nintendo family of consoles, combining all the content of the first two games alongside some new and exclusive stuff. Not only were there a mountain of single player levels to play through, but the game also boasted an impressive collection of multiplayer party games for the seemingly forgotten times when you would get your mates over for some proper local competitive gaming.

Immortal Realms: Vampire Wars on Xbox One is shaping up to be an immersive and engaging experience, especially for those interested in vampiric myth and legend. There’s a good depth to the strategy and, like a good board game, it is seemingly complicated at first but doesn’t take too long to get to grips with.

Carnivorous plants spreading across the earth, causing terror and destruction? Sounds familiar doesn’t it? No, this isn’t The Day of the Triffids. It’s GREEN The Life Algorithm.

We were - once again - kindly invited behind closed doors into Bandai Namco UK HQ for a sneak peak at not one, not two, not even three, but four upcoming games, releasing on Xbox One in the first half of 2020 - One Punch Man, My Hero One's Justice 2, One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 and Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris . Whether you’re an anime fan or not, there are some huge franchises with new games on the horizon and there’s most likely something for everybody.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot on Xbox One is a thoroughly enjoyable game, but those familiar with the series will get more out of it. Despite some relatively minor flaws, regardless of who you are there’s lots of fun to be had here.

Cuisine Royale is a solid, enjoyable game with a wacky persona. It doesn’t do anything new or particularly different to stand out above its rivals on Xbox, but it's still worth checking out nonetheless.
