After 20 years of playing every game I can get my hands on, I can now be found selling my soul for anything Resident Evil, Gears of War, or Gamerscore related... all of which will be mastered after a good cuppa!
Should you be after a game that can provide hours of fun or even some engaging experiences with friends, then Tetsumo Party isn’t likely to be your go-to game. It has a nice idea and if done better - dare I say maybe even with Kinect from back in the day - we could have been looking at a very interesting game. Sadly, that’s not the case
For a yearly release based on one of the biggest racing franchises, NASCAR Heat 4 doesn’t quite do it justice and even though those wanting a functional racer will find enough to be going on with, there aren't many reasons to pick this over any other racer on the market.
When it comes to survival horror, the first thing that many will want to talk about are the classic titles that kicked it all off; the Resident Evil’s and the Silent Hill’s of this world. Of course, since that point, survival horror has come a long way, evolving a lot, but that doesn’t mean that there aren’t people out there who appreciate the roots of where it all began. With DAYMARE: 1998, that’s what the focus is centred around.
Working in space must be a lonely job, but it’s a job somebody has to do. In LOST ORBIT: Terminal Velocity, the hero of the hour is Harrison, a guy who just so happens to be one of the few who have ventured out into space to conduct maintenance work on a relay.
In terms of Battlefield, the past 10 years has seen the series go from strength to strength, and whilst there will be many who would argue that the hit and miss adventures of Battlefield: Hardline didn’t quite live up to the excitement that the series is so well known for, each and every entry has at least provided plenty to shout about. Should you look back far enough and manage to take your mind away from Battlefield: Bad Company 2, what you may well remember is a small, online-only multiplayer adventure that lit up the Xbox Live Arcade – Battlefield 1943.
Roguelike dungeon crawler. These words many years ago would have been enough to see me look away without the slightest interest, but having finally changed my ways due to spending plenty of time with The Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon and many other similar titles over the years, I now find myself rather excited when a new competitor joins the ranks of the countless adventures. Can Hellmut: The Badass from Hell rank amongst the best though?
Platformers in the style of Castlevania games are so plentiful that they are pretty much capable of being an entire genre of their own – and some are already if you consider Metroidvania its own genre. Of course, it’s always nice to have such vast options available to us, but with so many to choose from nowadays, there needs to be something unique to make a platform title stand out. After spending some time with Feudal Alloy, I think there may just be enough here to allow it to stand out as a memorable title.
There’s a family business to save, there’s a long road trip to take, and Aunt Guu Ma isn’t happy at all. I’m late, I’m late because the trains were delayed. Guu Ma doesn’t care about that though, there could be a natural disaster and she would want me there on time. It’s okay though, I’ve apologised and Guu Ma is just a little tired ahead of the long Road to Guangdong.
Whether you’re looking for a learning experience or are simply a petrol head with a love for cars - or maybe a bit of both - Car Mechanic Simulator is a great game.
With E3 having come and gone, leaving us with a tantalising taste of excitement for all the new announcements and titles that are set to arrive, there is plenty of reason to wish away the months. Let’s not forget though that a month is a short time in the world of gaming, and with each new one brings a fresh selection of new titles, new deals and more importantly new free Xbox Live Games With Gold options. With that in our minds, let’s concentrate the focus on the recently announced Xbox Games With Gold titles for July 2019, and let the thoughts flow on which ones you should be looking to get involved in, and which you could probably afford to avoid.
If you’ve ever tinkered with a car, you’ll be well aware of the hundreds of individual parts that it takes to put one together, not to mention the hassle of taking it all apart and putting it all back together again should it go wrong. No-one said being a mechanic was easy of course, but for any good petrol head, there’s little better way of spending the day than taking apart that big V6, putting on some shiny new rims or tuning and tweaking every last ounce of horsepower out of your ride. Tinkering with the real toys can be an expensive hobby however, but now, you can get down to the nitty gritty of car mechanics with Car Mechanic Simulator on Xbox One and PS4.
War can do many things. It can bring nations together, it can tear them apart, it change future intentions for better or worse, and it can devastate lives. On occasions though it can prove the final saviour. In the moment however, war is a terrible thing for all those involved, and in the world of Golem Gates, war is no stranger, completely ravaging the land and turning the world into a dark and dangerous place.
April Fools is always an amusing time of the year in the gaming industry with joke announcements and comedy content often releasing for the masses to enjoy. Cuisine Royale is one such joke spawned from an April Fool’s Day surprise, however should you spend just a little time with the kitchen themed adventure will find that Cuisine Royale not only brings a serious amount of comedy value, but also a more than capable Battle Royale experience.
I’m a big fan of horror, be it a slasher flick, haunting ‘found footage’, or even a grotesque blood fest. To make a horror experience memorable however it needs to utilise more than just simple jump scares or gruesome scenes; it needs to have an impact on the emotional and mental well being of the individual experiencing it. Oh, and you need to be left with the chills. Whether you agree with that or not is of course dependant on what you look for from a horror media format, but for me, that’s the key, and with the recent release of Xbox One horror adventure Bring to Light, I was hoping to sit down for the fright of my life.
Bethesda’s most recent ventures haven’t proved quite as fruitful as they may have hoped, but there was once a time in which almost everything they touched became a near masterpiece. One such pile of creative genius that many were able to enjoy was id Software’s shooter, RAGE. However, despite being a perfectly capable and mostly enjoyable shooter, things have been pretty silent on the RAGE front, until the announcement broke that RAGE 2 would be coming. And now it’s time to head into that apocalyptic world once more!
If you’re a fan of bikes, racing and all things fast, as well as occasionally picking up a controller and having a blast, then chances are you will slowly have started to build up a sizeable library of enticing bike racers. If you thought you were done though, think again, as after a quiet start to the year, Milestone are back and that can only mean one thing - it’s time for the hustle and bustle of MotoGP 19.
There are tons of zombies games littering the market, but no matter how many we see arrive year after year, there is always one more just on the horizon that hopes to bring something fresh and enjoyable to players once more. The latest title to bring the undead to our living rooms is 2URVIVE, a game with a title so artistic that it leaves the hairs standing on end.
If there’s one thing we know it’s that Milestone know just how to create a lifelike and enjoyable racing experience, and with some of the biggest licenses under their belts, every new arrival is usually one you can bet will be exciting the masses. The latest Milestone racer is no different as the world of MotoGP returns in MotoGP 19 – the official videogame of the most popular motorcycle championship in the world!
Mortisomem is a compelling retro style horror game that will provide a good couple hours of entertainment. With some captivating lore and a fantastic atmosphere, fans of the retro VHS aesthetic will have a great time roaming the dreary forests of inland Brazil.
If Dollhouse: Behind The Broken Mirror didn’t come complete with such a mad roaming camera, and if the combat wasn't bland, then it would make for a much better game.
For many, a beloved childhood classic has returned in Croc Legend of the Gobbos on Xbox. And, aside from the improved camera and graphics, it plays exactly as you remember.
I love games that try new things and make bold choices. Centum does that, taking the notion of a point-and-clicker, mixing in some escape room vibes and turning it all on its head.
