Waking up from a 7,000-year nap to find you’re a clone, still technically employed, and now the last hope for humanity… well, it’s a bit of a drag. This is the quirky and compelling setup for Kentum, a new 2D craftervania.
This witty post-post-apocalyptic adventure from developer Tlön Industries and V Publishing is now available on Xbox Series X|S (and Play Anywhere), PlayStation 5, and PC for ÂŁ14.99. You’ll find Kentum on Switch later.
Kentum isn’t just another survival game; it’s a game about kickstarting an entire civilisation, one automated machine at a time.
A Future We’ve Been Waiting For
We’ve had our eye on this intriguing blend of genres for a while. It was last year that we first got wind of this new adventure, when we reported that Kentum would have you as the last man standing. Now, the full, expanded adventure has finally arrived, complete with multiple new ways to play.
Craft to Survive, Automate to Thrive
Your mission as Kent, an average Joe turned clone, is to turn your broken space module into a self-sufficient base of operations. This is a game of deep crafting and exploration.
You’ll start with nothing but a stick and a dry sense of humour. You’ll need to gather and hunt for food, find new recipes, and polish your cooking skills. You’ll turn bone and wood into coal, and machine scraps into sheets of metal. Slowly but surely, you’ll grow your base into a full-blown, resource-generating machine that can rival any factory in the world.
The world of 10,000 AD is a vast, ever-changing place, filled with fascinating flora, fauna, and dangerous climate events. You’ll traverse these exotic locales in style, using a hoverboard, hang glider, and grappling hook to explore everywhere from trash mountains to desolate ruins.
This isn’t just a survival game; it’s an automation game. You can expand your home base and create an automated system of machines and conveyor belts to streamline and optimise your production, leaving you free to go off exploring.
A Mode for Every Kind of Survivor
Kentum is launching with three distinct gameplay modes, offering a way to play for every type of pioneer.
- Story Mode: This is the full, intended experience. You’ll follow Kent’s journey, uncovering the mysteries of this far-future Earth through a witty narrative and sassy commentary from your robot companion, Orb.
- Creative Mode: For those who just want to build. This mode gives you infinite resources, no hunger, and no danger. You are free to construct the most elaborate automated bases you can dream of.
- Sandbox Mode: This mode strips away the narrative to focus purely on the survival experience. You’ll be challenged by giant spiders, carnivorous plants, massive weather shifts, and scarce resources.
Your Survival Blueprint
Here’s what you can expect from your 7,000-year slumber:
- A Witty Narrative: A story-driven “craftervania” blending humour and post-apocalyptic mystery.
- Three Distinct Game Modes: Story, Creative, and Sandbox.
- 30+ Hours of Gameplay packed with discovery and automation.
- Deep Crafting and Automation: Evolve your base from primitive tools to an industrial factory.
- Fun Traversal: Explore with a hoverboard, hang glider, and grappling hook.
- Dynamic Weather and Survival Systems.
Humanity 2.0 isn’t going to build itself, and you’re still on the clock. If you’re a fan of crafting, survival, and automation games with a great sense of humour, Kentum is ready for your new life on the Xbox Store right now, playable on Xbox Series X|S, PC and Play Anywhere.
Alternatively, Kentum is on PlayStation and coming at a later date to Nintendo Switch. We’ve got a review on the way.
Kentum Description
Stranded in the year 10,000, Kent—an average Joe turned clone—must survive, explore, and rebuild civilization with the help of his quirky robot companion. Craft, farm, and automate in this 2D craftervania adventure as you uncover Earth’s secrets and kickstart humanity, one machine at a time.

The gameplay looks tedious but the humor and voice over piked my interest. Waiting for the review.
