Avowed joins Game Pass this week.

Xbox Game Pass subscribers are in for a treat this week, as Obsidian Entertainment’s highly anticipated first-person fantasy RPG, Avowed, joins the library.

While the Premium Edition with its early access and bonus content launched last week, the Standard Edition (priced at ÂŁ69.99 for those not on Game Pass) is available this week to all Game Pass subscribers at no extra cost.

And it’s not just any addition; Avowed is the sole new title entering the Game Pass arena this week, landing on Feb 18th, making it a must-play for subscribers seeking a deep and immersive RPG experience.

Don’t believe us, read our review of Avowed on Xbox and Game Pass.

A World of Magic and Mystery Awaits

Set in the vibrant world of Eora, previously explored in the Pillars of Eternity games, Avowed invites players to uncover the secrets of the Living Lands, a mysterious island filled with adventure and danger.

As the envoy of Aedyr, you’re initially tasked with investigating a spreading plague, but your journey soon takes a captivating turn as you discover a personal connection to this land and unravel a conspiracy that threatens to destroy everything.

The island setting of Avowed is a captivating blend of beauty and danger. From lush forests teeming with strange creatures to treacherous swamps, volcanic depths, and ancient ruins, the Living Lands offer a rich tapestry of environments to explore and uncover. But be warned, danger lurks around every corner, and you’ll need to be prepared to face the challenges that await.

A Game Pass Highlight

The addition of Avowed to Game Pass is a significant win for subscribers. It’s a testament to Microsoft’s commitment to providing high-quality experiences, offering a chance to delve into a sprawling RPG from a renowned studio without the extra cost.

And as the sole new addition to Game Pass this week, Avowed takes centre stage, offering a compelling reason to dive into the service. If Avowed isn’t your bag, make sure you check out the Game Pass Day One gems that landed last year.

Embark on Your Adventure

If you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber seeking a deep and immersive RPG experience, Avowed is ready to answer the call. With its captivating world, engaging combat, and compelling narrative, it’s an adventure that’s not to be missed.

The Xbox Store will sort you out with the usual download, with Avowed playable on PC and Xbox Series X|S. You won’t be able to play Avowed on Xbox One.

What’s Next For Game Pass?

We’re waiting on the Xbox gods to confirm further new Game Pass additions for February 2025, and we’ll update this article as those games are detailed. We’d expect a good couple more games to join the subscription service in the coming days, whilst the usual end-of-month shift-out will take place come Feb 28th.

Edit: As promised, a few more games have now been confirmed for Game Pass play. Come Feb 20th, you’ll be able to get access to EA SPORTS F1 24 (Cloud, Console, PC), as well as Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader (Cloud, PC, Xbox Series X|S).

From there, Feb 25th adds a biggy to the subscription service – Watch Dogs: Legion (Cloud, Console, PC).

  • Maneater (Cloud, Console, and PC)

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
