Since Back 4 Blood stumbled onto Xbox, PlayStation and PC some six months ago, the players have flocked to the cooperative zombie bashing that it allows. Today though there’s even more reason to head into the undead mayhem, as the Tunnels of Terror expansion hits the game, bringing with it new Cleaners, new weapons, new skins, cards and more – including a difficulty level that will leave you with ‘No Hope’.
Available now for players enjoying Back 4 Blood on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and PC, Back 4 Blood’s Tunnels of Terror expansion builds on to the base game to deliver a whole new take on the cooperative zombie killing that many have fallen for.
It’s the first major piece of DLC for the game since launch – even though Turtle Rock have already dropped a few fixes and improvements previously – with the main draw being a couple of new Cleaners who are readying themselves for action. These are Sharice, an axe-wielding firefighter known for her defensive prowess, and Heng, a tough as nails, no-nonsense restaurateur skilled at slaying Ridden with his knife.
Further, is the inclusion of a new Ridden Hives PvE cooperative event, one in which teams of four players get to navigate their way through the cavernous depths of seven Ridden infested areas full of labyrinthine tunnels below Evansburgh. It’s here where the biggest rewards will come about, as you go about trying to safely pass the new Warped Ridden, Urchins, Shredders and Rippers. You’ll also find these Ridden variants kicking around in PvP Swarm mode.
Don’t think that’s all the Tunnels of Terror will bring though. Expect to be treated to the use of no less than seven new legendary weapons, enjoy the exclusivity of eight character skins and twelve weapon types, some all new cards and more.
To fill things out, the Tunnels of Terror expansion is accompanied by the free No Hope difficulty update, bringing an all-new challenge. Warner Bros and Turtle Rock have kindly ensured that all playable content included in this expansion will be available to all, provided that at least one player in a party has purchased the new content.
A standalone purchase of Tunnels of Terror is available (£11.99 from the Xbox Store), or you’ll find it kicking around with the base game, present and correct in either the Deluxe Edition or Ultimate Edition, or via the Back 4 Blood Annual Pass.
