It’s that time of the month again – Xbox Live Gold members can now claim their new Games With Gold for March 2020. Or at least two of the four, as Batman: The Enemy Within and the Xbox 360 title Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 are now free on the Xbox Store.

Arguably the biggest of these two titles, Telltale’s finest is on the menu this time round, with the second season of their Batman experience – Batman: The Enemy Within – being available for free from March 1 – March 31. Following on from the events of the first season, this series of 5 episodes treats us to a tale of terror, crisis and, above all, puzzles, as The Riddler starts to terrorize Gotham City. As well as Mr. Nigma, familiar foes such as the Joker and many others will also join the fray.

However, one of the best elements of Batman: The Enemy Within (and the preceding series) is the emphasis on Bruce Wayne’s illustrious life away from the cowl. The Enemy Within brilliantly tells two stories – that of Batman and that of Bruce – but intertwines them in a meaningful way that will ensure your decisions make a difference in both.

And that, ultimately, is the main crux of everything that Telltale have put their creative geniuses to: your decisions will shape the journey you experience in a plethora of ways, and for this reason Batman: The Enemy Within on Xbox One won’t be a title that you just download and leave on your virtual shelf, collecting dust.

Secondly, and perhaps the one that many current Xbox fans may push to the side, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is in place as the first of two Xbox 360 titles coming for free this month. Ready to download free of charge from March 1 to March 15 (keep that in mind – you don’t have all of March!), is the eerie and edgy hack and slasher that follows Dracula and his eternal quest to defeat his arch nemesis, Satan. He will go about this through an array of magical and devastating weapons. Despite originally releasing in November of 2013, Lords of Shadow 2 is still a riveting action-adventure title that is well worth a play for fans of Devil May Cry and the like.

But then again, any game that you can pick up for literally nothing is worth at least downloading; it will take a monumental stinker to not even bother installing and have it take up some space on your Xbox One. But tell us – will you be playing through either Batman: The Enemy Within or Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 this month? Also make sure to keep an eye out for our update around the middle of March, where Castlevania will be tapping out and two other titles will be thrown into the ring… stay tuned!

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
