Always wondered what it would be like to step foot inside the brain? With Wales Interactive’s latest FMV adventure you get to do just that and today we see Headspun launch on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with a Nintendo Switch release hot on the heels.
Available to purchase and download this very minute on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with it then releasing on Aug 30th on Nintendo Switch, Headspun is the latest FMV adventure to come from the team at Wales Interactive.
Anyone who has kept their ear to the ground over the last few years will know all about how Wales Interactive have been pushing the FMV scene, with the likes of The Shapeshifting Detective previously having released. Today though it’s all about the madness of the mind, and Headspun will whisk you off to the broken brain of one Theo Kavinsky.
Priced up at £9.99, with a little launch discount affecting things in the early stages of launch, Headspun tasks you with entering Cortex – the world which has been created by Theo’s mind – in order to save it. But throughout this adventure you’ll find the forces of logic and emotion going up against each other, with one rational voice consistently overpowered by the emotional subconscious. It’ll be up to you to discover what exactly has gone wrong with Theo and how you’ll be able to get his life back on track.
Jamin Smith, Director of Superstring says “Headspun was an idea born out of reading too many pop-psychology books; I loved the concept of the competing voices in our heads and wanted to personify the different drives and desires that form our personalities. Choosing live-action – in part – to tell that story seemed like a natural fit. I’m incredibly proud of the end result; a true genre-hybrid that fuses elements of the Adventure, RPG and FMV genres into something new.”
David Banner, Managing Director of Wales Interactive adds “Until now, our collection of FMV games consisted entirely of fullscreen filmed footage, usually with a unique game mechanic that sets them apart. Superstring threw away that rulebook and came up with something entirely unique; a concoction of genres that blend perfectly, with mechanics that complement each one. When approached by Jamin about collaborating on Headspun, it was a no-brainer for us. We’re extremely excited for the multi-platform launch which starts today and ends with Nintendo Switch later this week.”
Should you wish to give Headspun a spin then the Xbox Store will sort out the Xbox One gamers. Similarly, the PlayStation Store should be the next port of call for those on PS4, whilst the usual digital offerings on PC will also be able to provide the goods. Come August 30th, Nintendo Switch gamers should be found making their way to the eShop.
Our full review will be with you in the days ahead, so if you aren’t totally sold on this latest FMV journey that Wales Interactive have thrown out, keep an eye out for it.
Headspun is a FMV/Adventure hybrid set in Cortex; the world of Theo Kavinsky’s broken brain. After waking from a five week coma, Theo finds his life in disrepair. With no memory of the accident, it’s up to Ted and Teddy – the conscious and subconscious voices in his head – to work out what happened, and put his life back on track. Headspun is a game about recovery, discovery, and the ongoing battle between logic and emotion.
