Battlefield 6 – preparing to roll out

The battle lines have been drawn, and the call to arms has been sounded. Battlefield is back!

During a blockbuster global reveal event, EA and the newly formed Battlefield Studios have officially unveiled Battlefield 6, the next monumental chapter in the all-out warfare experience.

The game is confirmed to launch worldwide on October 10th, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC.

This massive reveal gave players their first look at a host of new and returning multiplayer modes, a tantalizing sneak peek of the game’s blockbuster single-player campaign, and the exciting evolution of Battlefield Portal.

Welcome to 2027: A World on the Edge

Battlefield 6 drops players into a near-future world teetering on the brink of chaos. The year is 2027. Following a high-profile assassination that has shocked the globe, major European countries have abandoned NATO.

As the US and its allies grapple with the fallout, a powerful and technologically advanced private military corporation, PAX ARMATA, has risen to fill the power vacuum.

This sets the stage for a thrilling, global-scale single-player campaign where what’s left of NATO is wounded, battered, and fighting for survival.

The All-Out Warfare Playground

The heart of any Battlefield game is its multiplayer, and Battlefield 6 is returning to its roots with a robust and feature-rich experience.

A brand-new Kinesthetic Combat System enhances movement and gunplay, offering new tactical options like Drag and Revive to pull wounded teammates to safety. The iconic class system also returns, with Assault, Recon, Support, and Engineer roles all being enhanced with class-specific gadgets and signature weapons.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Battlefield without destruction. The series’ signature feature is back and better than ever, offering an unparalleled level of freedom to transform the combat zone, create new paths, and flank your enemies.

Classes, Maps, and Modes

The game will launch with a huge package of multiplayer modes, taking the fight to locations across the globe, from the deserts of Egypt and the rock of Gibraltar to the streets of New York.

  • Classic Modes: Fan-favourites like Conquest, Breakthrough, and Rush are all confirmed to return.
  • Fast-Paced Staples: A host of intense modes, including Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, and King of the Hill, will be available at launch.
  • New Mode – Escalation: This brand-new mode will see two teams fighting to capture a series of strategic control points.

The Evolution of Portal and Post-Launch Support

The hugely popular creative toolset, Battlefield Portal, is back and has been improved and streamlined. The new version will give players brand-new tools to create completely unique “Community Experiences,” with ambitious post-launch support planned to consistently add more modes, maps, and weapons to the game.

A Word from the Generals

The teams at the newly formed Battlefield Studios — a single squad comprised of Criterion, DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect – are united in their vision for the future of the franchise.

We knew when we set out to create the future of Battlefield, we had to nail the fundamentals of what players have loved about the series for more than 20 years,” said Byron Beede, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Battlefield. “We’re back in our all-out warfare playground, with four world-class teams developing the game as a single squad known as Battlefield Studios. Criterion, DICE, Motive, and Ripple Effect have put their heart and soul into this next Battlefield and we’re thrilled to have shared our first look with you today and can’t wait to see you playing next weekend during the Open Beta.

I’ve worked on a lot of titles over the years and can confidently say that Battlefield 6 is something special,” said Vince Zampella, Executive Vice President. “We can’t wait to show more of Battlefield 6’s intense tactical combat and epic warfare in the months to come, leading up to its release on October 10.

Your Deployment: The Open Beta

You won’t have to wait until October to go hands-on. Battlefield’s biggest-ever Open Beta will take place across two weekends in August.

  • Weekend 1: August 9th – August 10th
  • Weekend 2: August 14th – August 17th

Fans can get in two days early, starting on August 7th, by watching their favourite streamers play the game. The beta will be available on all platforms and will feature several of the new multiplayer modes and maps.

The battlefield is prepped, and the global conflict is ready to ignite. With a return to its all-out warfare roots, a thrilling new campaign, and the promise of endless creativity with Portal, Battlefield 6 is deploying this October.

Your enlistment begins now.
