Be Kind and Rewind as Epic Loon arrives on Xbox One

-

Ever wondered what it would feel like to be a tiny alien living in an old VCR waiting for the likes of Jurassic Park or Alien to be inserted so you can come alive inside the film? No? Me neither! But now – thanks to Epic Loon – we no longer need to imagine, as it is available to download right away!

To expand, Epic Loon is a physics platformer where you play as a small alien who is rudely awoken from a slumber inside an old VCR-cleaning tape, and must navigate through classic films such as Godzilla, Nosferatu, Jurassic Park and Alien to exact their revenge on those that woke them.

To avoid any copyright issues these films will now be referred to as Grojira, Nosferacula, Jurassik Land and AL\EN: The Hitchhiker. These parodies though will feature scenes that will be instantly recognisable to fans of the original films.

Epic Loon features an interesting art style that is mostly black and white, with splashes of colour only used to emphasis certain aspects. With this, a curved effect on corners of the screen and fast-forward/rewind effects see this as the ultimate love letter to analogue cinema. A love letter that you can cause absolute havoc and carnage with.

These can be played in single-player or local multiplayer, with over 350 levels to play through in total – completed in one of four modes: Story, Speedrun, Hardcore or Battle.

Epic Loon is available to download now, priced at £11.99 on the Xbox store. Is this game crazy enough for you and your friends to enjoy? Let us know in the comments below.

Game Description:

They were locked away in stasis, hidden from the human world, in an antiquated piece of obsolete entertainment tech known as a VHS cleaner tape. Their restful prison, where they would remain until the end of time, was foolproof. But thanks to a greedy shop owner and an analog cinephile named Joe, those mischievous creatures not of this world were free once more. They would make Joe pay for disturbing their slumber. Become the alien. Invade Joe’s prized film collection. Dodge his remote-controlled attacks as you destroy that which he most cherishes. Be gross. Be evil. Be EPIC.
