Dreams of becoming a masterful Dan are about to be realised in the newest arcade-action game on Xbox One. We mean that quite literally as you’ll be playing as an immensely skillful ninja called Dan in Shadow Gangs. But what big bad are we hoping to defeat in this old school, Shinobi-esque adventure? Funnily enough, the Shadow Gangs!
Shadow Gangs is an arcade style action game simply oozing with that‘80s vibe in terms of the soundtrack and boasts a traditional, yet HD, hand-drawn aesthetic. You’ll step into the ninja-yoroi of Dan, a ninja order master who’s seeking vengeance. Unfortunately, Dan’s family have been kidnapped by members of the Shadow Force crime syndicate, who are better known as the Shadow Gangs. If anyone can pull off this dangerous mission, it’s definitely the crimson ninja, Dan.
Prepare to venture through 15 levels and overcome six rather tough bosses, including one that’s reminiscent of the villainous Lex Luthor and another that could easily be mistaken for Freddie Mercury (last seen in Let’s Sing Queen). There are also two different types of bonus stages to enjoy, featuring a timed ninja-killing spree and a gallery-style shooting experience. You’re going to have to use all of Dan’s special powers and transformation abilities in order to save the day in this one.
