Over the years, Xbox gamers have taken in a variety of chess experiences. From the traditional affairs like Chess Ultra, to the more puzzling like Chess Knights: Shinobi. This time around we are being treated to Chess Royal on Xbox.
Beat Your Friends
Available right now on Xbox and Switch, with PlayStation and PC releases to follow, Chess Royal is – on paper – a pretty simple affair. You take turns moving pieces around a chessboard, slowly taking out your opponent’s pieces by moving into them. When you entrap their King, it’s Checkmate and game over – victory is yours! It’s chess, at the end of the day, with tons of in-game achievements for you to strive towards.
Chess Royal will also allow you to customise your level of AI intensity (from pure rookie to total grandmaster), colour your chessboard and pieces to your liking, and of course battle against a mate in local 2-player co-op.
Key Features
- A powerful chess AI to challenge
- Local multiplayer – so you can also challenge others
- A massive set of chess puzzles to solve and learn chess logic from
- Daily puzzles, for those who can’t get enough of them!
