Bee With Gun Keyart
Bee With Gun – out now on PC and console

You know exactly where this is going from the title alone. Bee With Gun doesn’t waste time explaining why a bee is carrying serious firepower – it simply hands you the weapon and lets you get on with defending the hive.

Available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC with Xbox Play Anywhere, as well as PlayStation and Nintendo Switch, this colourful tower defence shooter from Petite Games and Ratalaika Games arrives with a budget-friendly ÂŁ4.99 price tag.

Hive Under Attack

The mission in Bee With Gun is straightforward: keep your hive alive while wiping enemy bases off the map.

Across 40 handcrafted levels, you’ll guide your heavily armed bee through four distinct environments, fending off wave after wave of attackers while taking the fight directly to enemy strongholds. It’s not enough to simply survive – you’ll also need to push forward and eliminate the opposition before they overwhelm your colony.

And although you’re armed and active throughout each level, Bee With Gun also asks players to think tactically. A selection of defensive towers can be placed around the battlefield, including fire, rocket, shotgun, laser and lightning variants. Choosing where and when to build them becomes increasingly important as the difficulty ramps up, with later stages throwing tougher enemies and larger assaults your way.

The result? Expect a mix of arcade action and classic tower defence, wrapped up in bright, colourful 2D visuals.

Bee Prepared

Ratalaika Games has built a reputation for bringing smaller indie projects to consoles, and Bee With Gun certainly stands out thanks to its memorable title alone.

If you’re looking for a light-hearted action game that mixes shooting with strategic defence – and you’ve ever wondered what would happen if a bee was given access to an arsenal – this one might just sting in all the right ways.

Bee With Gun is available now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC with Xbox Play Anywhere via the Xbox Store. It is also on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch. Expect to pay around ÂŁ4.99.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
