You may have heard of Beholder – probably because since late 2016 it’s become a bit of a hit over on Steam. Now though Curve Digital have decided to take things to the next level by dropping it onto Xbox One and PS4.

Due for arrival in January 2018, Beholder will arrive in Complete Edition form as console owners get the chance to discover the events that have lead the games’ protagonist, Carl, towards his fate. The ‘Blissful Sleep’ DLC will come as standard.

Carl, is just your everyday loyal, government salaryman with a loving wife and two beautiful children. After moving to an upgraded living zone, all of Carl’s dreams have come true, leaving him be to oversee the tenant upkeep as the landlord of a state-run apartment complex. All he needs to worry about are minor repairs, ensure the building has plenty of security, enforce the no-pets policy, install hidden cameras, and rifle through belongings to find proof of treason! Simple stuff eh!?

But what happens if Carl develops a conscience? Should owning a classical music record tantamount to a death sentence?

It’ll be up to you to take on the role of Carl and decide your own morality scale. Beholder comes with procedurally generated scenarios and over ten different endings to uncover, as you get to choose to protect your family through secret machinations or head into selfless sacrifice. One thing is for certain though – someone is always watching. Somewhere.

Features include:

  • LIVE in a grim future where privacy is dead and a totalitarian State owns your life.
  • SERVE the State that appointed you a manager of an apartment house.
  • SPY on tenants using an arsenal of peeping, and eavesdropping techniques.
  • REPORT on ideological subversion, or keep these secrets to yourself as blackmail material!
  • USE authority to follow the law or CHOOSE to pursue your personal interests. Play as a loyal citizen, rebel freedom fighter, a corrupt crook out for personal gain.

Beholder will initially launch on console on PlayStation 4 on January 16th, with an Xbox One release arriving shortly after that on January 19th, 2018. We’ll be sure to remind you when that time comes but in the meantime you may as well check out the trailer below.
