Onimusha 2 Samurais Destiny

The classic samurai action-adventure returns! Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny, lovingly remastered with HD graphics and modern enhancements, has launched.

This beloved Capcom title is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam) for £24.99.

Jubei Yagyu’s Legendary Quest Reawakens

Step back into feudal Japan and take on the role of Jubei Yagyu as he, alongside his allies, battles demonic forces. This isn’t just a port; it’s a significant upgrade designed to bring a fan-favourite to a new generation while respecting its roots.

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny continues the saga, with players guiding Jubei Yagyu on a perilous journey. Expect intense swordplay, critical “issen” counter-attacks, and a rich story steeped in Japanese folklore and demonic conflict. The fate of the land rests on your blade.

Modern Polish on Classic Samurai Swordplay

Capcom has packed this remaster with features to enhance the original experience:

  • HD Visuals & Modernised Controls: Experience the world with upgraded graphics and refined controls tailored for modern systems, making those satisfying issen counters and intense sword fights feel better than ever.
  • Expanded Language Support: The game now features additional language support, adapted from the original script.
  • New Gallery Mode: Delve into the artistry with over 100 sketches from the game’s renowned character designer, Keita Amemiya.
  • Digital Soundtrack Selection: Listen to all 43 tracks from the original, iconic soundtrack whenever you wish.
  • Hell Mode Difficulty: For veterans seeking the ultimate challenge, this punishing difficulty is available.
  • Mini-Games Unlocked: Dive straight into “The Man in Black,” “Team Oni,” and the “Puzzle Phantom Realm” mini-games from the very beginning.
  • Quality-of-Life Upgrades: Features like an auto-save function and an easy weapon switch option have been implemented for improved playability.
  • Onimusha: Warlords Save Data Bonus: If you have save data from the previously released Onimusha: Warlords remaster, you can unlock a special outfit for Jubei! This can be toggled from the title screen menu via Special Features.

Our First Look Confirmed the Excitement

We were thrilled when this remaster was announced, and our preview impressions were very positive. We noted the care being taken to modernise the classic and will be live with our full review very soon.

Ready to Face Your Destiny?

Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny offers a fantastic opportunity for both longtime fans to revisit a classic and for newcomers to experience one of Capcom’s most beloved action-adventure series, now with significant enhancements.

It’s available right now on the Xbox Store (and other digital platforms) for £24.99. And if you haven’t played the first game, Onimusha: Warlords, then you may wish to consider the £32.49 Onimusha 1+2 Pack. As the name suggests, it drags both games together into one pack.

Sharpen your blade, warrior!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
