Bend the Roo’les with Kao the Kangaroo and the Anniversary Edition

Kao the Kangaroo may not be the most famous of animal mascots – Sonic and Crash have that title firmly in the bag – yet this bouncing buddy has been around since the turn of the millennium. In fact, Kao is making somewhat of a resurgence in recent years, following the re-release of the original three titles onto Steam, in April of this year. And now it’s time to Kao and friends to really celebrate!

Releasing today on Xbox, PlayStation, PC and Switch platforms, Kao the Kangaroo: Anniversary Edition is the ultimate way to enjoy Kao’s franchise. This title includes a rebooted version of Kao the Kangaroo, confusingly itself titled ‘Kao the Kangaroo’, as well as the Oh! Well DLC and Bend the Rool’es DLC that released for Kao the Kangaroo subsequently.

This new DLC adds an incredible amount of content to the game with a whole new campaign and a new enemy boss, the Crab King, as well as five new levels with different challenges including a time challenge, rising lava, dimming light, and even a 2D level! “Bend the Roo’les” is now available on every platform for $7.99/€7.99/£6.59.

And perhaps in the most surprising twist yet, Kao the Kangaroo: Anniversary Edition is properly celebrating the birthday with one of the biggest crossovers since the likes of Marvel vs Capcom, or Batman vs Superman. That’s right, the lovable chameleon Yooka, and his flying bat friend Laylee are joining Kao on the adventure, in the Yooka x Kao DLC that is free for owners of the base game.

The Kao the Kangaroo: Anniversary Edition is the best way to enjoy Kao in the modern era, on the most powerful of consoles. You can now pick it up on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC – via the Xbox Store.

Kao the Kangaroo is available for free on the Epic Game Store until May 11th, whilst Kao the Kangaroo: The Trilogy also recently released on Steam and the Epic Game Store. This classic compilation includes the original Kao the Kangaroo (2000), Kao the Kangaroo: Round 2 (2003), and Kao the Kangaroo: Mystery of Volcano (2005), providing plenty of retro content to jump and punch your way through!

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
