Sold as giving the player the chance to outsmart time, The Entropy Centre is an ingenious first-person puzzle adventure that is coming to PC and consoles later in 2022.

If you’ve ever wanted the opportunity to bend time to your will and overcome deviously smart puzzles, then The Entropy Centre is going to be for you. A game that has been shown off in the summer Future Games Show, publisher Playstack is ecstatic to announce the addition of the mind-bending, time-manipulating stunner to its 2022 publishing lineup.

The Entropy Centre has been developed by a new British indie studio, Stubby Games, with the team behind it building it out around a unique puzzle mechanic that allows players to think in reverse, overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles. Promising to be deviously challenging with razor-sharp wit, The Entropy Centre will be making its way to Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 later in 2022.

You will get the chance to join the game’s protagonist, Aria, as she awakens inside the bowels of a colossal space station – The Entropy Centre – in near-orbit of Earth. There are however two immediate problems which face her: Earth has been set ablaze from an extinction-level event, and The Entropy Centre itself appears abandoned and on the brink of imminent collapse.

With the aid of ASTRA – a talking gun capable of moving objects backwards in time – Aria can restore the facility’s collapsed bridges, reassemble destroyed pathways, and overcome ingeniously complex puzzles to progress to the core of The Entropy Centre in the hope of surviving this seemingly doomed space station and, somehow, finding a way home.

The truth behind The Entropy Centre’s imminent collapse, and the Earth’s demise, can be found at the heart of this sprawling facility. But will Aria accept the unfortunate truth that awaits her?

Such an ambitious title has been a long-held dream project for Stubby Games founder Daniel Stubbington, saying “The Entropy Centre isn’t pulling any punches. This is the game that I’ve wanted to craft for a long time and I can’t wait to see players delve into this crazy time-manipulating world that I’ve created.”

Supporting this, the team at Playstack couldn’t be more excited to throw its weight behind The Entropy Centre, with chief executive Harvey Elliott stating, “The Entropy Centre is a brilliant example of what we are looking for – it’s an extraordinarily smart, satisfying, and witty puzzle game that is resonating with fans. We are feeling great about its response so far and have big plans for the coming months to maximize its success.”

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think. We’re very much looking forward to seeing The Entropy Centre launch on PC and console later this year.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
