Grow Berries, Make Money, Repeat
The basic idea behind Berry Bury Berry is beautifully simple. You grow berries, improve your Berry Buddies to produce increasingly valuable fruit, and then turn those berries into money.
That money can then be pumped straight back into the operation, unlocking upgrades, tools and gadgets designed to make your berry empire even more productive. Before long, the simple process of growing some fruit has become an increasingly elaborate incremental loop.
That all sounds harmless enough, until you realise just how quickly the numbers start climbing.
There’s A Hole. Obviously.
Then there’s the hole. But this isn’t a game about digging a hole.
The more berries you produce, the more you can develop and expand the mysterious hole lurking within the accursed garden. Eventually, you’re not simply growing fruit for profit – you’re burying things deep underground, uncovering secrets and gradually discovering that there may be considerably more going on here than the cheerful berry-growing premise initially suggests.
Multiple endings give players further reason to explore, while the garden and its inhabitants apparently have plenty of secrets waiting to be unearthed.
One More Upgrade…
Berry Bury Berry is very much designed around that dangerous incremental-game mentality of just one more upgrade. An expansive progression tree gradually introduces new tools and gadgets, giving you more ways to increase production and push the garden further.
And yep, the colourful, bouncy presentation helps disguise what could otherwise be a straightforward numbers game, while the surreal setting gives the whole experience a distinctly odd personality.
It has already found a sizeable audience on Steam, having launched there in January and picked up an Overwhelmingly Positive reception. More than 250,000 copies have reportedly been sold on PC, so there is clearly an appetite for seeing just how big this particular hole can become.
Time To Get Your Berries In A Row
Berry Bury Berry is now ready to spread its peculiar brand of incremental madness beyond PC. With berries to grow, money to make, upgrades to unlock and a mysterious hole to investigate, there is considerably more beneath the surface than its deliberately repetitive name might suggest.
Available now for ÂŁ8.39 on Xbox Series X|S (via the Xbox Store), PC, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, Berry Bury Berry could be the perfect game for anyone who enjoys watching a simple idea spiral into an increasingly complicated obsession.
Just remember: grow the berries, collect the money and, whatever you do, keep an eye on that hole.
