Darwin’s Paradox! – 2nd April

Charming, strange and surprisingly emotional, Darwin’s Paradox! casts you as an octopus ripped from the ocean and trapped inside a mysterious industrial complex. What follows is a cinematic puzzle-platformer packed with personality.
Darwin’s abilities – swimming, camouflage, infiltration – drive both traversal and puzzle-solving, creating a steady rhythm of experimentation and discovery. The world itself is vibrant yet unsettling, filled with dangerous machinery and odd creatures.
Blending humour, suspense and a deeper conspiracy narrative, this feels like an animated film you play through. If you’re after something creative and visually distinct, Darwin’s Paradox could be one of April’s biggest surprises.

People Of Note – 7th April

One of April’s most original ideas comes from People of Note, a turn-based RPG where every battle is a musical performance.
You play as Cadence, recruiting a band of musicians as you chase stardom. Combat blends traditional tactics with rhythm and genre-bending attacks, meaning every encounter feels dynamic and unpredictable.
It’s a clever fusion of systems – part RPG, part musical experiment – where timing, composition and creativity matter just as much as stats. Backed by Annapurna’s eye for unique projects, this could be a real cult favourite.

The Occultist – 8th April

If April needs a dose of dread, The Occultist delivers.
You step into the shoes of paranormal investigator Alan Rebels as he explores the abandoned island of Godstone, searching for answers about his missing father. Armed with a mysterious pendulum, you’ll manipulate the environment, solve puzzles and survive encounters with lingering horrors.
This is pure survival horror; no combat safety net, just stealth, tension and atmosphere. The island’s cult history and unsettling inhabitants add layers of mystery as you dig deeper into the unknown.
Expect slow-burn fear and a story that keeps pulling you further in.

Beyond Words – 9th April

Word games don’t usually look like this. Beyond Words takes familiar letter-based mechanics and spins them into a full roguelike strategy experience; an experience that is very Balatro.
Every run is about building powerful word combos, stacking modifiers and bending rules to your advantage. With over 300 abilities and shifting board conditions, no two attempts feel the same.
It’s surprisingly deep – part puzzle, part strategy, part deck-builder – with escalating challenges and boss encounters that twist the rules in clever ways.
Easy to pick up, tough to master, and dangerously replayable.
Our review of Beyond Words on Xbox is live. It’s only got a 5/5 score attached to it…

This time you play as Melinoë, battling beyond the Underworld in a deeper, more expansive mythological setting. Combat remains fast and fluid, but new systems, including witchcraft abilities, expanded upgrades and evolving storylines, add even more variety.
Stylish, addictive and endlessly replayable, Hades II is likely to dominate April conversations.

This cinematic 2.5D action platformer blends pixel art with modern lighting to create a stunning cyberpunk world. You play as R.E.A.C.H., an AI trapped in a human body, navigating a corrupt alternate 1980s America.
Combat mixes melee and ranged attacks into fluid, responsive encounters, while exploration reveals a layered narrative about identity, control and humanity.
It’s stylish, atmospheric and story-driven – a combination that could make REPLACED one of April’s standout experiences.
