Playing as a brother and sister searching for their missing friends, you’ll navigate a haunting island packed with grotesque creatures, environmental storytelling and unforgettable set pieces. The core puzzle-platforming mechanics remain familiar, but the richer narrative, larger world and constant feeling of dread elevate everything around it. Whether played solo or in co-op, the shared journey feels intensely personal, with every new location adding another layer to the mystery.
It’s also one of the finest-looking horror games you’ll play all year, backed by incredible audio design that constantly keeps you on edge.

Resident Evil Requiem cleverly splits its story between FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and series veteran Leon S. Kennedy, allowing two distinct gameplay styles to intertwine throughout an expertly paced campaign. One moment you’re creeping through claustrophobic environments with barely enough ammunition to survive; the next you’re facing pulse-pounding action sequences that never feel overblown.
It’s the balance that impresses most. Horror, action and storytelling exist in perfect harmony, creating an experience that satisfies longtime fans while remaining approachable for newcomers. Every twist lands, every location feels memorable and every encounter reminds you why Resident Evil continues to set the standard for survival horror.

Sometimes the biggest surprises come from the smallest ideas.
Beyond Words takes the familiar concepts of scrabble and word-building, before transforming it into one of the smartest roguelike experiences we’ve played in years. Inspired by games like Balatro but built around language rather than cards, every run becomes an addictive exercise in finding increasingly ridiculous scoring combinations.
With hundreds of modifiers, evolving boards and clever boss encounters, it constantly rewards experimentation. There’s genuine strategy behind every letter you place, and once the systems click into place it’s incredibly difficult to stop playing.
Naturally, a solid grasp of English helps enormously, but for anyone who enjoys word games, puzzles or roguelikes, Beyond Words is something special.

Hades II (Game Pass Day One)
Following one of the greatest roguelikes ever made was never going to be easy. Somehow, Supergiant Games has managed it.
Hades II builds upon everything that made its predecessor (the original Hades) exceptional while introducing new mechanics, deeper progression systems and an even richer cast of characters. Playing as Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld, you’ll battle through beautifully designed environments, experimenting with magical builds and divine boons that make every run feel unique.
As before, failure never feels punishing. Every defeat pushes the story forward, unlocking fresh dialogue, stronger abilities and new reasons to dive back in.
Launching straight into Game Pass only made this masterpiece even more accessible.

TerraTech Legion (Game Pass Day One)
On paper, building a custom vehicle before driving it into endless swarms of hostile robots sounds entertaining. In practice, TerraTech Legion becomes dangerously addictive.
Every run encourages experimentation, letting you bolt together weapons, boosters, armour and gadgets into bizarre creations that somehow become devastating killing machines. The roguelite progression constantly unlocks new possibilities, while multiple planets, escalating bosses and survival modes provide endless reasons to keep returning.
There’s an incredible amount of depth hidden beneath its accessible concept, rewarding creative thinking and encouraging players to push increasingly ridiculous builds to their limits.
This is another that hit as a Day one Game Pass drop. Who said that subscription wasn’t worth it?

Dungeon Clawler
If someone had pitched “deck-building roguelike meets claw machine” a few years ago, it would probably have sounded ridiculous. Dungeon Clawler though? Well, it makes it work brilliantly.
Every battle revolves around manipulating a real-time claw machine to grab weapons, shields and items before unleashing them against increasingly challenging enemies. Combined with deep build variety, unlockable characters and endless synergies, every run feels genuinely different.
Like all the best roguelikes, it’s constantly tempting you back for one more attempt. Try another character. Chase another build. Push one difficulty level higher. Before long, hours disappear without you noticing.
It’s clever, quirky and impossible not to recommend.

Forza Horizon 6 (Game Pass Day One)
Playground Games had an almost impossible task following Forza Horizon 5. And then they came up with Forza Horizon 6.
Transporting the Horizon Festival to Japan transforms the series, delivering spectacular city driving through Tokyo, winding mountain passes, picturesque countryside and one of the richest open worlds ever built for a racing game. With more than 550 vehicles, hugely expanded customisation and a stronger focus on Japanese car culture, there’s always another road worth exploring.
The biggest compliment may be that racing sometimes becomes secondary. Simply cruising through this beautiful world is endlessly rewarding and means that Forza Horizon 6 is a cracking addition to the legendary Forza franchise of games.

007 First Light
James Bond has returned to gaming in spectacular fashion.
Rather than retelling familiar stories, 007 First Light explores Bond’s earliest days inside MI6, showing the events that transformed a talented but reckless recruit into Britain’s greatest spy. Developed by IO Interactive, it’s no surprise that stealth, player choice and replayability sit at the heart of the experience.
Every mission offers multiple approaches, encouraging silent infiltration, social manipulation or explosive action depending on your preferred style. Combined with cinematic storytelling, memorable locations and plenty of classic Bond flair, it’s an outstanding debut for what will hopefully become a long-running series.
Bond fans have waited a long time for a game worthy of the licence. The wait has been worth it.
