A modern, old-school RPG? Yep, that’s the angle Beyond Galaxyland is looking to harness as it releases on PC and console.
Available today on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, as well as PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC is Beyond Galaxyland; a game we first heard of earlier in 2024.
A modern old-school adventure
It comes from United Label and music producer turned game developer, Sam ‘EnrightBeats’ Enright as players are taken off on a journey through an adventure RPG. What’s more, it’s been inspired by some of the most classic of sci-fi movies from the 1980s, as well as the iconic turn-based RPGs of the next decade.
Priced at £14.99 from the Xbox Store, Beyond Galaxyland sees us following the life of Doug, teaming up with his little guinea pig friend, Boom Boom. They rock up on Galaxyland and a collection of planets just prior to the destruction of Earth. From there, all manner of adventures play out, as Doug and Boom Boom meet new and old friends, attempting to undo the destruction of the world.
Beyond Galaxyland is most certainly a passion project, bringing an old-school RPG experience into the modern era of gaming. It comes with a mix of platforming, puzzling, combating, boss battling and more, including a summons mechanic for good measure.
