Got an Xbox but want to play some classic PlayStation games? Antstream Arcade have you covered with the latest additions to the library. And these are PROPER PlayStation classics too.
In the build-up to Antstream Arcade rolling out on PS4 and PS5 comes a couple of new additions to the retro library, no matter which format you play on. That means that as long as you have an Antstream sub (either 12-months or lifetime) then this week will allow you the chance to play Motor Mash (PS1) and Worms Armageddon (PS1).
Seeing as Team17 and Digital Eclipse will soon be dropping an Anniversary Edition of that latter game, it kind of makes sense to add it in to Antstream now.
Worms Armageddon
Worms Armageddon was launched originally for Microsoft Windows machines way back in 1999 before being ported to other systems, including the PlayStation.
This was the third instalment in the hugely popular Worms series, with Worms Armageddon developed as an expansion for 1997’s Worms 2. It eventually launched as a standalone title – a great one at that, fully acclaimed.
Should you be unaware, it sees you controlling a team of up to eight worms with the goal of wiping out the opposition with a wide array of different weapons and tools, from a simple shotgun, right up to the Holy Hand Grenade.
Played in 2D, the destructible environments create as much of a hazard as opposing earthworms, as falling into the water below will mean an untimely death. Alongside the standard deathmatches, Worms Armageddon also features a series of training missions and a single-player campaign.
Motor Mash
Prefer some racing? Motor Mash is a top-down cartoon racer from Eutechnyx, first released on PlayStation in 1997.
Jump behind the wheel and you’ll get to choose from a selection of different cars and drivers before racing against opponents over six worlds, each with eight courses. The tricky courses span different environments, from the Amazon and Arctic, to the Wild West and a bustling city.
Multiple modes are present, including single race, league and beat-the-clock.
“Top-down racing is always a popular genre for players to burn off some energy, and who doesn’t like Worms?. Celebrating the launch of Antstream on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 by adding two exciting PS1 titles seems like the way to go, and both of these titles are great fun to play, so will be welcomed by Antstream subscribers.” – Steve Cottam, CEO of Antstream.
A new challenge
As with most weeks, there’s a new Antstream challenge too. This time around we’ll head to Battle Chopper (Arcade) and jump into Chopping Away, helping Mr. Heli get the best score possible with one life by taking out enemies and upgrading aircraft.
Download now!
Not yet got an Antstream Arcade download in your library? You can play this on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S, via a download from the Xbox Store.
It’s also on PC, mobile and coming soon to PlayStation.
