BloodRayne 1 & 2 are ReVamped

We may have gone the best part of a decade without BloodRayne being in our thoughts, but when Ziggurat pushed out BloodRayne Betrayal: Fresh Bites to PC and console a couple of months back, the floodgates were opened. And that is how we’re got to today’s launch of BloodRayne: Revamped 1 and 2.

Available to purchase and download right now for £16.74 each on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5 and Nintendo Switch is BloodRayne: ReVamped and BloodRayne 2: Director’s Cut. Now, it must be stated that these are not new games, nor are they remasters, and instead Ziggurat have picked up the old games from 2002 and 2004 before ReVamping them and adding some neat little modern touches.

What we have here then is higher display resolutions (up to 4K on supported consoles), upscaled cinematics, improvements to the lighting, additions to the engine and effects and further localisations in terms of voiced audio and localized text for English, French, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish for the first game, and voiced audio in English and Russian, with localized text for English, French, German, Italian, Russian, and Spanish in the second.

Running as a third person action horror, both BloodRayne: Revamped and BloodRayne 2: Director’s Cut will play nicely on the back of Fresh Bites, letting gamers get aquinted with Rayne once again. The foiling of Nazi plans, the taking in of supernatural threats and the uncovering of her vamperic heritage are all elements that will be front and centre again.

“Since our launch of BloodRyane Terminal Cut on PC last year, Rayne fans have been thirsting for a console update,” said Michael Devine, SVP of Business Development. “For Many players, Rayne’s true home is on console and we bow before her today upon her triumphant return.”

BloodRayne ReVamped Game Description:

At the dawn of World War II, Rayne has been recruited as an agent for The Brimstone Society – a top secret fraternity that hunts down and destroys supernatural threats to humanity. Rayne embarks on two missions, five years apart, which turn out to be connected by one sinister man who has been searching the world for powerful occult relics to bring about a new age of domination for the Third Reich. In this frenetic and bloody third-person shooter that unleashed the iconic red-headed femme fatale on the world, the dhampir Rayne battles horrific creatures and hordes of soldiers with an array of vampric abilities and powerful weapons. Acrobatically slash and shoot your way through the swamps of Louisiana, the cavernous depths of a mining operation in Argentina, and a ruinous German castle. Experience the origins of Rayne through her first missions for the Brimstone Society in this improved version of the horror-action classic.

BloodRayne 2: Director’s Cut Game Description:

Rayne is a dhampir, born from the unnatural union of vampire and human. Her mixed heritage grants her vampiric powers and superior resistance to sunlight and water, but curses her with the bloodthirst of a vampire. She has defeated countless monsters both demonic and human, but now faces her most personal battle yet. Rayne must hunt down her very own siblings, who have banded together and pledged to carry on their father’s legacy of creating a new era of vampire supremacy in which humans are mere cattle. BloodRayne is back with new acrobatic movements, rail sliding, fast-paced blade and gun combat and fatal finishing moves. Use Rayne’s dhampir powers like time dilation to rack up points in the extensive combo system in this brutally satisfying continuation of the iconic series.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
