Blue Prince – now on Game Pass, Xbox and more

The cel-shaded look has always been one of my personal favourites: there’s something about it that just makes games look so suave

Blue Prince on Game Pass, Xbox, PlayStation and PC, the latest title from Raw Fury and Dogubomb, adopts such an artstyle for its mysterious puzzle roguelike game.

A Blend of Genres

A ‘puzzle roguelike’ may not be the most common genre mashup, yet this is exactly what the team behind Blue Prince have created.

Available today on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, accompanied by a day-one launch on Xbox Game Pass, Blue Prince sees you explore a huge manor, a manor in which the rooms change daily.

Multiple runs of this first-person puzzle adventure will be required to see the credits roll, as you hopefully make your way to the enigmatic Room 46: whatever lives in there is a true secret…

The only way you’ll make real progress, however, is to save permanent upgrades to the estate blueprint, which will provide essential information about the layout of the manor between runs. Each decision you make regarding the type of room you’ll next enter may just be the difference between taking one more step towards Room 46, and you being booted back to the very start.

Imagine if the beautifully serene country estate from Botany Manor became a little bit more curious, and became a shapeshifter; you’ll get the jist.

It all works well too, with our Blue Prince review on Xbox well worth a read.

Blue Prince Key Features

  • Draft your journey – Every door can reveal new and exciting chambers that contain their own unique challenges and secrets, as well as offering or taking resources. But choose carefully, for each day the manor’s floor plan resets and the rooms one sees today may not be the same rooms one sees tomorrow.
  • Every step counts – Progress each day is shaped by the rooms selected to draft and the tools found within them. Yet, tread wisely – when the floor plan resets at the end of the day, all but the permanent upgrades to the estate blueprint will be lost.
  • History in the making – Investigate a past woven with the threads of blackmail, political intrigue, and the mysterious disappearance of a local children’s book author. The deeper one ventures, the more one realizes that the past is closer than it appears.

Enter, If You Dare!

Blue Prince is available today on Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC.

Whilst Game Pass subscribers will be able to download this one free of charge, you can alternatively purchase Blue Prince via the Xbox Store.

We’ve got Blue Prince slap-bang in the middle of our Best Games of April article too.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
