Does the thought of the upcoming arrival of Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair get you rather excited? Well, brace yourself, because there’s a new trailer for your perusal that shows off the cool alternate level states that can be experienced in it.
Coming from Team17, in partnership with independent developer Playtonic Games, Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair tasks players to rescue members of Queen Phoebee’s Royal Beettalion from Capital B. It’s a quest that will see you take on his most dastardly challenge to date – the Impossible Lair. Here, you will explore a charming 3D over-world to uncover 20 different 2.5D levels, each of which has a member of the Royal Beettalion needing to be rescued.
But wait, there’s more! As the colourful duo traverse through the over-world, Yooka and Laylee will discover new secrets and puzzles which can dynamically transform each level, increasing the total number of levels to a whopping total of 40. Spark some change by hooking up electricity, flood chapters with running water or literally flip them upside down for radically altered challenges. That’s what’s showcased in this latest trailer and it’s an idea that really looks to change the landscape for each level.
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will be heading to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC, in Q4 2019. We’d advise watching the trailer below, and if the original Yooka-Laylee passed you by, why not have a read of our review? You might like it!
