Brave the Royal Frontier on Xbox

Royal Frontier Xbox

Turn-based RPGs usually take many an hour to fully complete. That is, unless it is a turn-based RPG ported by Ratalaika Games. Famously short games with easy achievements, their latest release is no different. Discover the Royal Frontier today on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.

In Royal Frontier, a brave band of settlers is ready to embark on an epic journey. Players must make boardgame like decisions as they move the settlers and their wagons across the map. Each new location can bring them fame and fortune, or savage bandits and monsters. Fall at the hands of them and it is back to the beginning of the run.

Royal Frontier also includes:

  • Unlock characters and power ups for your next trip
  • Use the gold to buy weapons and equipment
  • Take decisions that can help or hurt your party
  • Turn-based and time-based combat
  • Choose your road wisely

As the famous song goes, the road is long with many a winding turn. Our review will have the exact details on just how long, coming soon.

Royal Frontier encourages replayability as you build your squad to earn more treasure. Its mixture of turn-based combat, time-based inputs, boardgame exploration and cute pixel art all lend themselves to each other. And of course, the easy achievements are a given here.

Royal Frontier is available to download now on the Xbox Store priced at £6.99. Those brave explorers eager to get out on the frontier quicker can bag a discount, dropping the price down to £5.59 for a short period. Drop us a comment below if you will be picking this up for the gameplay or the easy achievements. No judgement here.

Game description

The wagons are packed and an eager group of settlers are ready to head out. But the journey is full of dangers. Treacherous terrain, savage bandits and ancient monsters have been the end of many settlers. So they turn to you to protect them. Choose your party, move across the map like a board game, and battle monsters. The combat is a nuanced mix of turn-based and time-based approach, with attacks, specials and items make each encounter unique.
