The humble brick breaker has been around for decades, but Radon Blast 2 isn’t content with simply letting you bounce a ball around the screen at your leisure.
This follow-up adds randomly arranged stages, increasingly frantic ball speeds and a timer that means every missed shot could cost you more than a few bricks. It is available for £3.29 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, with Xbox Play Anywhere support.

Break Bricks, Keep The Ball Moving
The premise? As you may expect to hear, you need to use the ball provided to smash through the bricks and work your way through the stages, collecting bonuses along the way.
The challenge comes from the way Radon Blast 2 keeps turning up the pressure. Ball speed increases as you progress, making it harder to keep control, while missing the ball sends you back to the previous stage.
There’s also a rather important deadline to worry about. You only have seconds before the ball explodes, so hanging around isn’t really an option.
Breaking Through The Force Wall
Each stage has a force wall that needs to be hit multiple times before it eventually breaks. Once you’ve done enough damage, the route to the next stage opens up.
The stages are randomly sorted, meaning you won’t simply be memorising one fixed sequence and repeating it. Each run can throw up a different arrangement as you attempt to push further.
Bonuses give you a few more tools to work with, including speed boosts and multiple balls. The latter should make it possible to clear bricks more quickly, although keeping track of everything becomes another challenge when the pace starts increasing. And those intent on score chasing will also have bonus multipliers to collect, providing an incentive to take risks rather than simply concentrating on getting through each stage.
How Does It Compare To The Original?
Radon Blast 2 follows on from the original game, which we reviewed back in 2021. We awarded Radon Blast 2/5, noting that its survival-style twist on brick breaking was an interesting idea, although we found the experience became tiresome fairly quickly.
The sequel sticks with the core concept while adding randomised stages, extra bonuses and a faster pace. Whether those additions give the formula more staying power is something players will have to discover for themselves.
For £3.29 from the Xbox Store, Radon Blast 2 keeps its ambitions relatively simple. Smash the bricks, keep the ball alive, break through the force wall and try to get a little further each time. Just don’t take your eye off that ball.
