His name may not be Walter Hartwell White, and he may not live at 308 Negra Arroyo Lane, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87104, but this Family Man has certainly picked up a few tips while watching Breaking Bad.

Launching onto Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch today, Family Man is a truly dark RPG set in an equally dingy neighbourhood. Our protagonist is your classic guy, just trying to make ends meet to feed his family, flipping burgers day-to-day at the local restaurant. Or he could be a gangster, raking in a whole lot more dollar, at the expense of possibly pushing away his family. The choice really is up to you.

Every decision you make in this blocky RPG will have a huge impact on your surroundings, as the neighbourhood goes from the postcard American dream town to more of a nightmare, with your wife and child constantly getting suspicious of you, and more and more gangs looking to exploit your nefarious nature.

Soon enough, this Walter-like will be enthralled in all kinds of misdeeds, culminating in brandishing his own gun and taking the fight to those who wronged him in the past.

It’s truly captivating and tense stuff, made even better given the fact that this plays out in a Minecraft-esque block-based graphical style.

Family Man is now available on Xbox and Switch. For Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One owners, you can pick up a copy for £16.74 via the Xbox Store. We’ve got a review coming.

Game Description:

Family Man is a dark, story-led RPG that asks the question: When pushed to the limits of your own morality, how far would you go for the sake of your family? You owe money to the mob, and you’ve got three weeks to pay it back. Will you flip burgers and earn an honest living while scraping the money together… or will you take on some dirty jobs for more cash, but potentially push your family away? Every decision you make affects everyone around you. The neighborhood will blossom or perish under the weight of your decisions, while the path you choose may lead to your household becoming stronger than ever… or the breakdown of your marriage and relationship with your child.

I'm an avid gamer who will play pretty much anything... but stick an open world or adventure game in front of me and I'm more than happy.
