BrokenLore FOLLOW – out on Xbox, PlayStation, PC

Not all horror games rely on monsters lurking in dark corridors. Some of the most unsettling experiences come from exploring fears that feel far more personal, and that’s exactly where BrokenLore: FOLLOW looks to make its mark.

The latest entry in Serafini Productions’ growing horror series has arrived on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, bringing with it a deeply psychological story centred on self-worth, family pressures and inner demons that refuse to stay buried.

For anyone who played BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW, this is another trip into a world where reality and nightmare become increasingly difficult to separate.

At A Glance

  • Game: BrokenLore: FOLLOW
  • Developer: Serafini Productions
  • Publisher: Serafini Productions
  • Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS5
  • Price: ÂŁ14.24
  • Genre: Psychological Horror

A Different Kind Of Horror Story

BrokenLore: FOLLOW places players in the shoes of Anne, a young woman struggling with self-acceptance while dealing with the effects of bullying and feelings of worthlessness.

At the heart of the narrative is her complicated relationship with her mother, whose larger-than-life personality has cast a long shadow over Anne’s life. As those emotional struggles begin to manifest in increasingly surreal ways, players find themselves confronting strange creatures and unsettling visions born from Anne’s inner turmoil.

It’s a premise that suggests FOLLOW is aiming for something more psychological than outright terrifying, using horror as a way of exploring personal trauma rather than simply delivering jump scares.

Building On The BrokenLore Formula

There’s already reason to be optimistic about this latest entry. When we reviewed BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW, we awarded it a strong 4/5 score, praising its storytelling, visual design and willingness to tackle modern themes through horror.

At the time, we said: “BrokenLore: UNFOLLOW is a very clever entry in the horror genre, carrying a strong message about social media and its effect on young minds.

That ability to weave meaningful themes into unsettling horror appears to be continuing here, although FOLLOW shifts its focus away from social media and towards identity, self-image and family relationships.

However, rather than casting players as a soldier, detective or paranormal investigator, the game focuses on someone fighting a battle within themselves. The creatures Anne encounters are not simply obstacles to overcome; they’re manifestations of the fears, doubts and emotional scars she carries with her.

Ready To Follow?

BrokenLore: FOLLOW is available now on Xbox Series X|S (Xbox Store) and PC. It’s also on PlayStation 5.

If Serafini Productions can build on the foundations laid by UNFOLLOW while delivering another thought-provoking story wrapped in surreal horror, then FOLLOW could be another intriguing chapter in the growing BrokenLore saga.

We’ll bring you our full thoughts once we’ve ventured into Anne’s troubled world for ourselves.

I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
