A new and endlessly replayable roguelike city-builder, where you can loot the powers of your rivals to create unstoppable armies, has just arrived in Game Pass.
9 Kings, from Sad Socket and Hooded Horse, has launched to the Xbox world, available right now for PC players. You can purchase it in Game Preview form for £17.99 or, even better, play it at no extra cost if you are a PC Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate member.
This is a deep and strategic experience where you will build your city, craft your deck of units and spells, and take on dozens of unique events to prove that your kingdom can outlast all others.
Before you rush to your console, it is crucial to know that while 9 Kings is available on Game Pass, it is currently only playable on PC. This title is not available to play on Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S at this time.
As it is launching in Game Preview, this may change in the future – and we’d suspect there will be Xbox Play Anywhere support at some point – but for now, this is an adventure for PC players to enjoy.

Your Kingdom, Your Rules
In 9 Kings, your goal is to build your capital from a small settlement into the most powerful of all kingdoms. You’ll need to expand your kingdom strategically to recruit powerful units, prepare for dozens of unique and chaotic events, and survive decades of war and strife.
This is where 9 Kings truly shines. Each of the nine kings has a different starting deck of buildings, troops, and spells. However, you can loot the rival kings who attack your lands to access cards from their unique decks.
This allows you to declare war against kings with the powers you covet, and then use their own tools against the world. You can unlock countless combinations of stacking buffs and modifiers to build an invincible army.
Protecting Your Kingdom
You will lead dozens of different units into battle, from sturdy knights and warlocks to glass cannon wizards, bombers, and even hordes of fiendish imps and sentient mushrooms.
You can stockpile gold to hire thousands of mercenaries, use dark magic to raise the dead, and harness nature itself to bring down your enemies.
Thanks to the endless combinations, you can try out insane builds and watch massive armies fight for your crown. The goal is to survive as long as you can against increasingly powerful enemies, or, if you’re clever enough, completely break the game and watch all challengers crumble before you.
