MILKY WAY TD SURVIVORS AUTOBATTLER – mixing things up on Xbox

MILKY WAY TD SURVIVORS AUTOBATTLER – a game so determined to squeeze every possible genre into its name that you already know exactly what you’re getting before the download even starts.

Available now on Xbox and PC, this latest release from Desert Water Games throws tower defence, autobattling, RTS mechanics and survivor-style chaos into one frantic package as players attempt to defend planets across the Milky Way galaxy from endless enemy hordes.

Defend The Galaxy One Planet At A Time

MILKY WAY TD SURVIVORS AUTOBATTLER throws you onto distant planets where survival depends on building up an economy, constructing defensive towers and desperately trying not to get overwhelmed.

Resources play a major role. Mines pull stone from the ground, furnaces generate gold, and every bit of currency feeds directly back into your defensive setup. Some towers specialise in direct attacks, while others summon units to hold back advancing enemy waves.

But underneath the overload of capital letters and genre labels sits a gameplay loop built around smart placement and constant upgrades.

More Than Just Towers

So what separates MILKY WAY TD SURVIVORS AUTOBATTLER from a standard tower defence game? Well, that is the addition of powerful active abilities.

Mana collected through pylons can be spent on devastating attacks including orbital cannons, meteor strikes and starfalls capable of clearing huge enemy swarms in seconds.

The game boasts more than 40 enemy types, many carrying their own dangerous abilities and behaviours. Some rush your base directly, others pressure your frontline units, while larger threats demand careful resource management and ability timing if you’re going to survive.

Desert Water Games Keep Them Coming

If you spend enough time browsing the Xbox storefront, chances are you’ll already be familiar with Desert Water Games. The publisher has built a reputation for delivering a constant stream of smaller indie releases across a huge variety of genres.

MILKY WAY TD SURVIVORS AUTOBATTLER might have one of the most wonderfully over-the-top names we’ve seen in quite some time, but beneath that sits a fast-moving hybrid that could easily appeal to players who enjoy survivor games with a little more tactical depth.

MILKY WAY TD SURVIVORS AUTOBATTLER is available right now from the Xbox Store, playable on Xbox Series X|S. There is also an Xbox One version, and that for Windows PC.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
