The Behemoth update for Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles is live

The tides of the Ursee are shifting once more, bringing with them both colossal power and shadowy intrigue with the new Behemoth update for Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles.

Solo developer Tomas Sala and those at Wired Productions have today released the Behemoth Update for Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles. This is the biggest free expansion for the unique city-builder yet, and it’s available right now for all players on Xbox Series S|X, PlayStation 5, and PC.

This massive update introduces a formidable new flagship warship, game-changing espionage mechanics, new architectural options, and a host of other fixes and improvements.

Another Layer for a Relaxed but Flawed World

When we first took to the skies of the Ursee in Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, we found a game with a lot to admire. In our 3.5/5 review, we praised its “simplicity and relaxed nature” but noted that the “lack of goals and purpose hinder the game.“

Since then, the game has continued to evolve with massive free updates, and this new Behemoth Update is the most significant step yet towards adding that deeper layer of purpose and challenge. With a focus on late-game conquest and high-stakes naval battles, this could be exactly what the game needs to fulfill its incredible potential.

What’s New in the Behemoth Update?

This is a huge drop of new content that adds new strategic layers to the chill builder.

The headline feature is the introduction of the Behemoth Surveyor, a massive, heavily-armed flagship packed with cannons and point defenses. This is a true endgame vessel, but it comes with a significant risk: if you lose it in battle, it’s gone for good, raising the stakes for every single engagement.

For those who prefer a more clandestine approach to conquest, this update introduces espionage and sabotage. You can now deploy schemes to recruit enemy commanders, capture entire settlements outright without a fight, or dismantle rival defenses from within, speeding up your late-game conquests.

You can now reintroduce a touch of green to the ocean world. New Arbology Towers, a piece of Freebooter splinter-tech, allow you to plant greenery and forests across the Ursee. On top of that, your fortresses can now be both more beautiful and more functional, with the addition of new curved wall and gate sections for every material tier.

The Final Major Update?

In a message to the community, the game’s solo developer, Tomas Sala, has indicated that this could be the last major update of this type for the game.

“Behemoth is perhaps the last big update of this type that can be done as the Ursee, once a lonely place, is filling up rapidly with new challenges, new buildings and features,” he said.

This adds a real sense of significance to this massive content drop, making it a must-play for all fans of the game.

The war for the Ursee has just been given a colossal upgrade. With a powerful new flagship to command and a host of new strategic options, there has never been a better time to return to the skies and build your own legend.

The Behemoth Update is free for all players across Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC, and is live now. The game is also currently available at a discount as part of the Steam Autumn Sale too.
