Call of Cthulhu and Star Wars Battlefront now free to download on Xbox

Over the years the middle of the month has always signified one thing – new free games being delivered via the Xbox Games With Gold scheme. And February 2020 is no different with the brilliant Call of Cthulhu and the old-school OG Xbox title Star Wars Battlefront now both stripped of their price tags.

From right now all proud owners of a valid Xbox Live Gold membership can make the most of the free love being gifted by the top dogs at Xbox HQ, with the Xbox Games With Gold scheme for February 2020 pushing out two more free games.

Call of Cthulhu is probably the biggest deal of the two, with this native Xbox One title only having arrived in the world back in October 2018. Normally priced at £34.99 this creepy adventure was inspired by a bit of Lovecraft and thrusts us back nearly 100 years – to 1924 in fact – as we take on the role of one Private Investigator, Pierce.

From there what unfolds can only be described as madness, with cults, horror, the blurring of sanity and more ensuring that Call of Cthulhu will push your sense to the extreme.

With a super deep story in place, and some visual detail that is right up there with some of the best around, if you’re after a linear yet hugely enjoyable storytelling experience then Call of Cthulhu on Xbox One is one you should be downloading this very instant – particularly now that it is free.  You’ve got one month from now too because once the middle of March rolls into play and Spring decides to be sprung, that price will go straight back up again.

Sitting pretty alongside that madness maker though is a proper old school gem, a game that first released on the original Xbox way back when – Star Wars Battlefront.

Obviously superseded in many aspects – not least the visual side of things – by many other Star Wars gaming expeirences, Star Wars Battlefront may just about still find a place in the hearts of many, especially those who are fans of the whole universe.

Battlefront is usually priced at just £8.99 but until the end of February 2020 – and remember it’s a leap year so you get one extra day! – Xbox Live Gold members can grab a free download. Don’t expect massive things from this golden oldie, but a free game is a free game, is it not?

If you don’t have a valid Xbox Live Gold subscription and reckon that a download of either Star Wars Battlefront or Call of Cthulhu is something that sounds appealing, you should get one put in place immediately. We love to use CDKeys for things like this and both they and Amazon will see you sorted in a matter of minutes.

Don’t delay though, grab your free Xbox downloads right now.

Call of Cthulhu Description:

Call of Cthulhu, the official videogame inspired by Chaosium’s classic pen and paper RPG, brings you deep into a world of creeping madness and shrouded Old Gods within Lovecraft’s iconic universe. 1924. Private Investigator Pierce is sent to look into the tragic death of the Hawkins family on the isolated Darkwater Island. Soon enough, Pierce is pulled into a terrifying world of conspiracies, cultists, and cosmic horrors. Nothing is as it seems. Sanity is an irregular bedfellow, all too often replaced by whisperings in the dark. Strange creatures, weird science, and sinister cults dominate the Cthulhu Mythos, intent on realizing their mad schemes to bring about the end of everything. Your mind will suffer – between sanity and psychosis, your senses will be disrupted until you question the reality of everything around you. Trust no one. Slinking shadows hide lurking figures… and all the while, the Great Dreamer prepares for his awakening.

Star Wars Battlefront Description:

Fight as a soldier on the front lines where every weapon and vehicle you see is yours. Take the Empire head on or crush the Rebellion – by yourself or with an army behind you!
