Can you find A Way Out?

It’s one of the most hotly anticipated cooperative titles of recent times, and now it’s finally time to discover whether we’ll ever be able to find A Way Out. Yep, EA have delivered on their promises and from today you’ll be able to team up with a mate and begin your daring escape from prison.

Available right now for Xbox One, PS4 and PC players, A Way Out has come about thanks to the creators of the rather awesome Brothers – A Tale of Two Sons.

And whilst that game delivered a heartfelt tale to gamers around the world, this one feeds on the same emotional attachments – at least eventually – with what starts off as a standard breakout turning into an adventure that is unlike anything we’ve seen or played before. With EA behind things you should probably expect a rather great experience too.

A Way Out sees you playing as one of two prisoners – Leo or Vincent – as you attempt to break out from a life behind bars. A co-op only experience with each player taking charge of different characters, you’ll find that you need to work together in order to find your freedom, helping each other out with every step you take.

Priced at £24.99 (with the usual 10% discount available to those with EA Access), you may think that asking two people to stump up that kind of cash is a bit cheeky. And you’d be right. Thankfully though EA have a cunning plan and the use of a friends pass trial feature will see you being able to play through the entire A Way Out experience with a mate who has bought the game – for free. Yep, just the one game purchase is required here folks!

“We designed A Way Out as a dynamic narrative experience best played on the couch with a friend and as a co-op only game, I wanted people to play with their friend without gimmicks or a high cost, so we came up with the free Friends Pass offer” said Josef Fares, Writer and Director at Hazelight. “The game is designed so that players will need to build trust with one another by talking and making decisions together as they play. Intense moments and more meaningful points in the game build the relationship between both the characters and the players. On top of that, A Way Out has no repeated gameplay activities which creates a truly unique experience unlike anything played before.”

The Microsoft Store will sort out the Xbox One gamers out there. If you like your cooperative adventures, this is one that is surely going to be worthy of your time.

Grab a friend and prepare to find A Way Out today!

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore. Gamertag is neil363, feel free to add me to your list.
