Electronics Puzzle Lab 2 – out now!

A sequel to a puzzle game that, frankly, failed to spark much joy with us the first time around has just been switched on.

Electronics Puzzle Lab 2, the latest brain-teasing title from Sagitta Studios and Eastasiasoft, has launched today. This new challenge is now available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch for the incredibly low price of just ÂŁ4.19.

The big question is, with a new set of puzzles, has this series managed to re-wire its formula for a more engaging and challenging experience?

An Opportunity to Do a Far Better Job

Let’s be clear about our history with this series. When we took to the workbench with the first game, we were left feeling underwhelmed. In our 2/5 review of the original Electronics Puzzle Lab, we concluded:

Electronics Puzzle Lab hopes to inspire players into taking an interest in electronics. After playing it, the opposite may be more likely… There is certainly scope for a puzzle game in this vein, but there is an opportunity to do a far better job than that which we have here.

With Electronics Puzzle Lab 2, the developers have that very opportunity to do a far better job.

Powering the LEDs

The core concept of Electronics Puzzle Lab 2 remains the same. Your task is to inspect a series of circuit boards and make the necessary adjustments to successfully power a set of LED lights. You’ll take a seat at your workbench and get hands-on as you cut wires, flip switches, and more as you trace the path of the current.

The game promises that its concepts are simple enough for beginners, but that the advanced challenges will test the limits of logic and electronic knowledge for enthusiasts.

Check out the circuit-solving in the official launch trailer…

It’s important to note that Electronics Puzzle Lab 2 on Xbox does not support Xbox Play Anywhere.

A Breakdown of the Circuitry

Here’s what you can expect from this new educational puzzler, and we’ll find out in full review if things work out properly this time:

  • A Fun Way to Learn Electronics: Inspect circuit boards and make adjustments to power LED lights.
  • Dozens of Challenges: Progress from basic puzzles to advanced circuitry tests.
  • Accessible for All: Simple enough for beginners, but engaging for enthusiasts.
  • 3D Graphics and Casual Gameplay Loop.

The workbench is set and a new set of circuits are waiting to be completed. If you’re a fan of logic puzzles and are curious to see if this sequel has managed to fix the flaws of the original, Electronics Puzzle Lab 2 is ready for you on the Xbox Store right now, playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PlayStation and Nintendo eShop.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
