If things couldn’t get any more confusing in the Escape First saga, two new games pop up onto the Xbox Store.
It was back in February of 2022 in which Escape First 3 arrived on the Xbox scene. Now though, some eight months later come Escape First and Escape First 2. Better later than never we guess.
Whether you’ve played Escape First 3 or not, the low asking prices of both the two new options available in the trilogy make this a bit of a tempter. Escape First and Escape First 2 both come in at £4.19 from the Xbox Store, each playable on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. In fact, Escape First 3 runs that exact same price so you can, if you enjoy what they bring, grab all three for a little over a tenner. That’s pretty good value for money right there.
Drop in and you’ll find this Escape First series offering up what you would expect of a game of this type – an Escape Room. These are far removed from the fun, super quirky offerings of something like Escape Academy though, seemingly darker in tone.
Escape First (the first game) comes with three different escape rooms to play through – the Psycho Circus, The Red Button and Lost In Time. Details of each as follows…
- Psycho Circus – After attending a spectacular performance at the circus “De la Luna”, you find yourself trapped inside the clown’s quarters. In a few minutes his show will end. Will you be able to find his spare key and escape before he returns? Everyone knows that clowns don’t like other people touching their stuff!
- The Red Button – One room, one door, one bloodied knife. What’s going on? What happened last night? You need to know. Are you sure you want to know? You need to leave. Be careful though! No matter what happens, do NOT press the red button!
- Lost In Time – You have agreed to take part in an experiment relating to space time. One mistake has left you trapped in chaos. Past, present and future have merged! Time is your worst enemy! Will you be able to beat it and return to your reality before it is lost forever?
Escape First 2 meanwhile does the same – three more escape rooms come to the fore for your puzzling pleasure, with Psycho Circus Cont. (seems a little lazy, but there we go), The Torture Chamber and Behind the Scenes offering up new options. Again, details are key…
- Psycho Circus Cont. – You managed to escape the clown’s quarters, but you are not free yet. Did you think it would be this easy to escape? The show must go on and you are the exhibit! Think and act fast in order to escape the circus, we all know that clowns don’t like other people touching their stuff!
- The Torture Chamber – A medieval dungeon, filled with torture devices, prison cages and not many prisoners left. Hearing screams from the room next door, you know you don’t have much time left until the guards come for you. The doors are locked, is there another way out?
- Behind the Scenes – While visiting an Escape Room Factory, you black out and wake up in the bathroom. However, there is one thing about this room that does not seem right, it has no doors or windows! How did you get here and more importantly, how will you ever get out?
Both Escape First and Escape First 2 are cooperative experiences so you’ll be best off trying to grab an online mate, requesting they hold your hand as you take in the tortures that await. Of course, you could play it alone, but the real fun will be by sticking a few heads together and getting on with escaping as a group.
All the Escape First games come from the OnSkull Development team and this is a squad that has seen fit to include some console keyboard and mouse support too, so if you’re geared up with something like the Razer Turret to hand, you may well find that to be a more delicate input method.
