Red Titans Keyart
Red Titans – now on Xbox, PlayStation and Switch

There was a time when shoot ’em ups ruled the arcades, demanding lightning-fast reflexes and happily chewing through your pocket money with every mistake. Red Titans looks to capture that same spirit, bringing a challenging vertical shooter to modern consoles with crisp pixel art, towering bosses and one very important rule – don’t expect an easy ride.

Launching right now on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, Red Titans arrives priced at ÂŁ6.69, delivering a love letter to the vertical shmups that dominated the ’80s and ’90s.

Built For Arcade Veterans

From the moment you launch into battle, Red Titans wears its inspirations proudly.

This is a vertically scrolling shooter built around precision flying, screen-filling enemy waves and learning attack patterns through repeated attempts. You’re humanity’s last hope against an escalating conflict that quickly grows beyond a conventional war, placing you behind the controls of the deadliest ship ever built.

It’s a familiar setup for genre fans, but one that promises plenty of intensity across six handcrafted stages packed with enemies and imposing bosses.

Skill Over Second Chances

Be sure though – Red Titans isn’t interested in holding your hand.

The core campaign strips things back with no continues, meaning every life matters. Success comes from learning enemy formations, mastering your weapons and staying calm when the screen fills with incoming fire. Extra lives can be earned along the way, but surviving still comes down to player skill rather than unlimited retries.

For those wanting a slightly different challenge, there’s also a Survival Mode, where every enemy destroyed helps power up your ship. The catch? One mistake ends the run immediately, creating an even greater test of nerve.

Ready For Take-Off?

Whether you grew up on arcade cabinets or you’re discovering shmups for the first time, this looks like another welcome addition to the Xbox library. And so should you be after an old-school challenge that rewards practice rather than patience, Red Titans could be worth adding to your collection.

It’s available now on Xbox Series X|S (through the Xbox Store), PlayStation 5 (PlayStation Store) and Nintendo Switch for ÂŁ6.69.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
