Candy coloured competitive party play comes to Xbox One with Clumsy Rush

Multiplayer games with a strong party vibe are having a bit of a moment. In August alone we saw the release of Swimsanity!, Boomerang Fu, Battletoads, and now Clumsy Rush adds to this list of Xbox One local play goodies.

Developed by NerfGame, and published by RedDeerGames, this couch multiplayer arcade game is all about beating your friends while playing as tubby hippos. As one of the 27 available hippo characters, (yes, that does include Santa Hippo in case you were wondering) you and up to three friends have the primary objective of belly-bumping one another in order to hold onto a crown. Heavy is the hippo that wears this crown, however, you will then become a glowing target to your tummy-tossing pals.

You may not have too much trouble keeping away from your fellow players if you can get a grip on the goofy control scheme before they can. Half the challenge of the game is moving your physics-based hippo one step at a time. You control each leg of your hapless hippo separately, and the resulting movement is a hilarious waddle. Watching your friends and family struggle with the unique controls promises to be a great deal of the fun as everyone’s hippos flail and jiggle around 47 different levels.

If the huge number of levels do not sound like enough to keep you entertained, the 25 different modifications surely will. Just when you think you have nailed the act of maneuvering your bulbous hippo body, you can add mods that force you to walk backwards, on tiles that have been slicked with oil, or even mods that switch up the control scheme. Combining all of these wacky variants with the large library of levels should definitely give you and your associates hours of entertainment.

Key features include:

  • Competitive. Share the fun with your family and friends – Clumsy Rush allows up to 4 players to take up the challenge locally!
  • So colorful! So vibrant! The competition takes place in a series of beautiful, strange worlds full of clouds, rainbows, slides, and mysterious structures. All in a vivid, memorable setting.
  • 25 random game modifications. Walking backward, Bounce (flipper), Angle180, ChangeLegs, Charge minus, Charge plus, Chubby, Crown Clones X2, Tiles Oil, Wrap, Freeze, and more…
  • 47 obstacle courses. All with unique traps that you will remember for a long time.

If all of that sounds like a good time to you, then giving the game a try will run you £8.39 on the Xbox Store. If you have any questions or just want to share your excitement with us, write to us in the comments below. And keep an eye out for our review of Clumsy Rush on Xbox One too.
