Original Article – June 5th 2025

After near-total radio silence, Capcom has finally transmitted a new signal for its enigmatic sci-fi adventure, PRAGMATA.

In a surprise reveal during the latest PlayStation State of Play broadcast, the developer confirmed the highly anticipated title is now targeting a 2026 release for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam.

The announcement was accompanied by a brand new ‘First Contact’ trailer, giving us our most substantial look yet at the game’s lunar setting, its dual protagonists, and a glimpse into its unique action gameplay.

First Contact: A Lunar Nightmare

The new footage and details transport us to a near-future vision of Earth’s moon, the primary setting for PRAGMATA. The story begins aboard a seemingly deserted lunar research station, where a chance encounter brings together the game’s two central characters.

However, this is no simple meet-cute. The station is under the control of a hostile AI, turning the once-lifeless outpost into a deadly trap. Stranded, surrounded by enemies, and cut off from Earth, the pair must forge an unlikely alliance to survive.

A Tale of Two Survivors

Players will be introduced to Hugh, a human spacefarer, and Diana, a mysterious android. Caught in the crosshairs of the malevolent AI, they must work together to find a way back to Earth.

In a fascinating twist on the single-player adventure formula, Capcom has revealed that players will control both Hugh and Diana simultaneously.

Each character will possess their own unique strengths and abilities, requiring players to strategically leverage both to overcome the many obstacles and enemies that stand in their way. This dual-character control system promises a truly unique and engaging gameplay experience.

Hacking at the Heart of Combat

At the core of PRAGMATA’s action is a mechanic described as “Hacking.” While details are still sparse, Capcom explains that this system will enrich combat encounters with a layer of strategy and excitement unique to the game. Expect to be able to manipulate environment and enemies, blending thoughtful tactics with fast-paced action.

The confirmation of a 2026 release window means the wait for Capcom’s mysterious new IP continues, but this latest dispatch has provided a much-needed payload of information.

With a clearer understanding of its story, setting, and innovative gameplay mechanics, the long-anticipated journey to the moon with PRAGMATA finally feels a little closer.
