Fancy joining The Penitent One again, this time as you look to carve out a whole new fate? That’s what you’ll be doing in the latest free update for Blasphemous – Wounds of Eventide.

The latest free update for Blasphemous – The Game Kitchen’s multi-award-winning action-platformer – launches today on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC. With Team17 also behind it, Blasphemous launched back in 2019 to some rather critical acclaim and with a sequel confirmed, plus a host of free updates coming previously, it’s a game that has continued to stay on many gaming radars.

Today though it’s all about Wounds of Eventide – the third and final free update for the action-platformer. Available and rolling out to Blasphemous players on all formats, unveiling the final chapter of The Penitent One’s first story, Wounds of Eventide offers new levels, bosses, items, and secrets to unearth, while unlocking another fate for Cvstodia – and it’s that which leads into the events of the Blasphemous sequel.

Wounds of Eventide concludes a series of three post-launch updates. That started with ‘Stir of Dawn’ which launched in 2020 and introduced the ‘New Torment’ mode, a New Game+ addition that challenged players with a new level of difficulty, plus new playstyles, new bosses, and much more. The second update, ‘Strife and Ruin’ launched last February and introduced Miriam from Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night into the world of Cvstodia as she sought help from The Penitent One. Strife and Ruin also added a new game mode and a ‘Demake Area’ that plays homage to classic 8-bit platformers.

You’ll be able to get access to all those free updates, as well as the latest Wounds of Eventide freebie by picking up a copy of Blasphemous from the digital store of your choosing right now. The Xbox Store should well be visited.

You’d do well to check out the trailer too.

An Xbox gamer since 2002, I bought the big black box just to play Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee. I have since loved every second of the 360's life and am now just as obsessed with the Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S - mostly with the brilliant indie scene that has come to the fore.
