If you speak to gamers who were around from the start of the Xbox 360’s life and ask them which XBLA defined the Arcade system, then many will reply with Castle Crashers. Well great news, Castle Crashers is back and coming to Xbox One!
Castle Crashers Remastered is coming to Xbox One on Sept 9th 2015 and will see you hack, slash and smash your way to victory as the 2D adventure is remastered. With 60 frames per second, hi res visuals and updated textures, it should be a decent old improvement on the old game.
Available initially in North America, it’ll appear in further countries as and when ratings procedures are met. Those who have purchased the original title on 360 will be able to download Remastered for nothing prior to Sept 20th, after which $14.99 will see you with just enough to grab it. Even after the 20th, previous players who run with an Xbox Live Gold membership will ony need to pay $5.00.
So grab some friends either locally or online, and go save that princess, defend your kingdom and crash some castles.
If however you’d rather save some cash, then the original game will also be available on Xbox One thanks to the Backwards Compatibility some time soon.
Features include:
- A brand new mini-game Back Off Barbarian. Jump and hop across the level to avoid the enemies!
- Larger textures and twice the framerate of the original Castle Crashers for Xbox 360
- Unlock more than 25 characters and over 40 weapons!
- Intuitive combo and magic system: Unlock an arsenal of new attacks as your character progresses through the game.
- Level up your character and adjust Strength, Magic, Defense, and Agility.
- Adorable animal orbs are your companions. Each adds different abilities to aid you on your journey.
- Arena mode: Battle other players in free-for-all or team matches!
- Insane Mode: Test your skills in the ultimate campaign challenge

Castle Crashers would disappear along with lots of other games once the ‘Last Gen’ would wave goodbye. Millions of people have enjoyed the game and written to us with such amazing experiences, it seemed like it’d be a loss to just let it vanish for any new or returning console players.” [/blockquote]
