One of the latest to go down the Game Preview and Game Pass route is that of Lightyear Frontier, a game that takes farming sim elements but puts it into space.

When EA went big and splashed out the cash on the acquisition of Codemasters, the lines were drawn for the F1 series of titles to begin to reach all new heights. And even though it’s probably too early for any proper navigation from the EA team to help Codies with their push to provide another stellar F1 experience in the upcoming F1 2021, it’s fair to say that the game is still most definitely on track to be the finest F1 title yet.
There isn’t too long to wait now for King’s Bounty II as it nears its 24th August release date on Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC. The marriage it has struck between exploration and tactical RPG is unique in that most games of this type simply opt for one or the other, and it’s a marriage we are quietly hopeful for.
Another month has passed us by, and with it, some big hitters in terms of game releases. Developers are understanding a lot better now that huge releases don’t just need to be saved for the last quarter of the year, which is why we saw the likes of Resident Evil Village and Mass Effect Legendary Edition release in May. But do these AAA titles make an appearance on our list of the easiest Xbox achievements to be gained from the games released in the month just gone?
My most abiding memory of this Dead Island is actually of the trailer. You see, back in 2011, I was so over zombie games; I felt like they were just another tired old video game trope that had had their day. And then, almost out of nowhere, appeared this video that piqued my interest.
It’s been over six months now since the launch of the Xbox Series X|S and, aside from the short supply of consoles, the transition to this new generation has gone rather well for Microsoft. With no bundled Kinect, no unwanted TV features, and simultaneously having the most powerful and cheapest consoles on the market, Xbox has done a much better job with this console launch than they did back in 2013. There’s only one thing missing from this almost perfect launch, the games.
Forget all those too-big-to-fail AAA games, blending together to become a flavourless broth of open worlds and 100-hour campaigns. It’s the next tier down where the real juice is: where you’ll find the wacky high concepts, the left-field experiences, the bad voiceovers. We’re not afraid to say it: we love the AA game. Yes, it’s our way of saying that there’s no real blockbuster releasing in June 2021. Welcome to the quiet before the E3 storm. This is the month for niche re-releases, unexpected sequels, weirdo indies and abstract RPGs.
With reveals and announcements coming at us from all angles, it’s time to try and digest everything in our weekly podcast. There’s even talk about a couple of the latest films to hit streaming services. So, you won’t want to miss it.
After a mixed start to the year for Microsoft, there’s plenty over the course of the next two years for gamers to be excited about for the company. E3 is here very soon with Microsoft confirmed to be taking part.
Xbox Game Pass is a service that’s so good, it’s overwhelming. So much gets added to the service every single month that it’s easy to feel like you’re drowning in your backlog. We feel the same! That’s why every month we’ll be compiling the very best games added to Game Pass to help you decide what to play next. Here are the Xbox Games Pass’ highlights for the month of May 2021!
At this point, Second Extinction is an incredibly promising title. While it is scheduled for a full release sometime later this year, it already feels like there is enough to keep players busy. In the long run, it would be incredibly beneficial to have an additional map or two to explore and some more single-player-friendly content, but when the dinos are as fun to shoot as this, there’s plenty of reasons to stick around.
It’s time for another instalment of our weekly podcast, with Gareth, James and Richard in place to chat about all things gaming, as well as anything else catching their interest. Over the past six months, we’ve been blessed with several stylish puzzlers that focus on shadows: Mørkredd, Shady Part of Me, Iris.Fall, to name a few. Into that fray comes Tandem: A Tale of Two Shadows, the first release from Parisian outfit Monochrome. But rather than toss it on the same pile, we wanted to pry further and see how Tandem: A Tale of Two Shadows differentiates itself. We had the opportunity to talk to Jean-Bernard, co-founder and producer at Tandem Studios, and he was able to shed some light on this role-switching puzzle platformer.
I don’t claim to know anything at all about NASCAR, but I do appreciate a fast-looking car when one blitzes past me and my Skoda Fabia on the M62. And the beauty of this new NASCAR 2021 Fan Pack is that even someone like me can enjoy the three new cars on offer here in this latest Rocket League offering, without knowing too much about the sport itself.
