Looking back to 2009 and the war over the Pacific with Battlefield 1943

In terms of Battlefield, the past 10 years has seen the series go from strength to strength, and whilst there will be many who would argue that the hit and miss adventures of Battlefield: Hardline didn’t quite live up to the excitement that the series is so well known for, each and every entry has at least provided plenty to shout about. Should you look back far enough and manage to take your mind away from Battlefield: Bad Company 2, what you may well remember is a small, online-only multiplayer adventure that lit up the Xbox Live Arcade – Battlefield 1943.

5 of the best horror experiences on Xbox One

There are many ways to classify what makes a horror game great, but I have collated this list solely on how scared it made me feel when I originally played it - how horrific the experience was in fact. Essentially the following horror titles are listed in order from the least amount I crapped myself, to the most. Of course all of these are available on Xbox One, let's get started.

Road to Guangdong Preview – Life on the road

There’s a family business to save, there’s a long road trip to take, and Aunt Guu Ma isn’t happy at all. I’m late, I’m late because the trains were delayed. Guu Ma doesn’t care about that though, there could be a natural disaster and she would want me there on time. It’s okay though, I’ve apologised and Guu Ma is just a little tired ahead of the long Road to Guangdong.

Xbox Games with Gold: Why you should not be complaining about free games

It puzzles me somewhat as to why it is the vocal majority who do not seem to be happy with Xbox Games With Gold. I feel a lot of those subscribed to Xbox Live may not understand what these games represent within the service.

Looking back to 2014 and Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition

Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition launched on 2nd July, 2014 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Wii U and Xbox 360. Having already seen a standard version release to a damn good reception on PlayStation 3, PS Vita and PC in the previous year, hype was growing rapidly for the special edition, which included an expanded story, a new lava-filled location, a new boss, some fresh abilities, and more.

Let’s Play Hero Express on Xbox One!

A perfect mobile game is one that is simplistic in mechanics but incredibly addictive, and Hill Climb Racing’s one more go appeal ensured many of us played for hours on end. Hero Express, the newest title from Fantastico Studios, is a more fleshed out version of this mobile classic, just now for the console audience, and given the addictive nature of its inspiration, we had to check it out on Xbox One. Care to join us with some of the gameplay?

7 Ultimate Xbox Gamerscore Grinds for Those with Way Too Much Time on Their Hands

Following on from my list of insanely difficult achievements, it’s time to shine the spotlight on another type of hellish achievement. The dreaded grind. These are the awards that will take you hundreds of hours at the absolute minimum, and often involve repeating menial tasks over and over. It’s safe to say that these were definitely not made with the casual gamer in mind. Only the most committed will ever see these pop.

Why you should be looking forward to: Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines 2

The original Vampire Masquerade: Bloodlines is an excellent showcase of choice and consequence in games. Hopefully Bloodlines 2 will live up to its name.

Are the free Xbox Games With Gold titles for July 2019 any good?

With E3 having come and gone, leaving us with a tantalising taste of excitement for all the new announcements and titles that are set to arrive, there is plenty of reason to wish away the months. Let’s not forget though that a month is a short time in the world of gaming, and with each new one brings a fresh selection of new titles, new deals and more importantly new free Xbox Live Games With Gold options. With that in our minds, let’s concentrate the focus on the recently announced Xbox Games With Gold titles for July 2019, and let the thoughts flow on which ones you should be looking to get involved in, and which you could probably afford to avoid.

10 of the best racing games of all-time

Looking back over a lifetime of playing games, and racing games in particular, I am moved to consider which were the best that I have ever played. I'm going to be platform blind on this, largely because I didn't have an Xbox until the 360 came out, so many games I played were on the other consoles that were available. In order that I played them, here are the racing games that have had a lasting impact on me and 10 of the best racing games of all-time.

10 of the Easiest Xbox Games for Gamerscore in 2019

Earning Gamerscore can be a real minefield. Sometimes the requirements are downright ridiculous, there might be an extreme grind to put up with, a crazy difficult challenge to complete, a multiplayer achievement which will have you relying on random teammates, or worst of all, an achievement which is simply unobtainable, whether due to a server shutdown or a glitch. Luckily it’s not always like that. Some Xbox games out there are so simple to complete, only taking a few hours of casual play at most. So instead of completing hundreds of races or finding thousands of collectibles, why not give the ten games on this list a whirl?
